my drain plug covers keep falling off and i end up with wet carpets every other week in winter

My mat plugs not only never pop out or off, it takes effort to remove them. and then, the shoulder of the mat goes down through the hole in the floor so even if you left the plug off, water would drip to the road below and never touch carpet
