Hello,
last time i posted a trip at the "what did you do with your gladiator". I do not have a picture with the Gladiator from todays trip, so i started this thread, hopefully i can post more trips in the next months/years. Dog and landscape, mixed with memorial stuff.
We had some snow this morning, so we drove to a state forest at Tiefenbach, a small city near Passau. Passau is in the south east of Germany, at the border to Austria. No picture of the Gladiator, but there is another memorial from WW2 i want to share with you. In 1945 roundabout 600 russian soldiers were prisoner of war in the village Tiefenbach, some of them had to work at farms. When the American forces were really near, 400 of the prisoners were moved to barracks in Passau.
The people from the village asked the german military that the remaining 200 should also be moved to the barracks. But, the nazis decided to shoot the 200 russian soldiers. When the farmers heard of this plan, they hide the russians from the Nazis as good as possible. 42 were actually shot at the location of this memorial. Some days after that the american soldiers arrived, the dead bodies were found and a military funeral was done.
