Cargo/Bed Rack options?

Hey all,

New gladiator owner here.

I am looking at the best cargo options for travel with children (3 of them!). Was going to get a typical bed cover but think that there will be some stuff that won’t be able to fit in there.

What are some of the best options for racks to carry luggage, bikes, etc. anything really on top of the stuff in the bed?

I have a SoftTopper on mine. Great product and light. Had one on my ZR2 as well and loved the thing. Easy to install and remove as needed. They are about $1100 but worth it in my opinion.

I have the VooDoo VRS side rails and bed cross bar system (wtihout risers). It fits great with my roll-n-lock tonneau and puts standard aluminum t-slot bars about 1 inch above the retractable tonneau. Dry, covered, locked storage in bed, and a half-bed sized cargo rack above the tonneau. Very low profile. Eventually I might add the kayak rack (or make my own) so that I'll have room for the canoes, then a cargo deck for wet gear and drybags and coolers, and then dry, locked storage in the bed. It's like this: https://www.kbvoodoo.com/vrs-overlanding-crossbars but without the short vertical supports. Just the t-slot mounted directly to the VRS rails.

Here's a pic of the custom rack I built using the VRS rails and tnutz extruded aluminum mentioned above. The little brackets are built to secure my LIfetime cooler and ActionPacker.

We are fairly new to the game and are exploring best ways to store gear as well. We have a tri-fold soft cover that came with it, which I like to use during the winter. For certain camping trips, we have used a cargo net to help keep everything in place, which has exceeded my expectations. Once you unload and set up camp, you get to still use the cover. Still dreaming of bed rack solutions in order to keep tonneau. Fun to see how your setups change over time.
