Does anyone know when or why Jeep changed the front axles to a CV style with a rubber boot? Originally, i had heard these types of axles only came on models with the weaker 4H Auto option. However, after visiting several lots in the past week, I have noticed all of the new 2024 Gladiators, with Part time 4wd transfer cases, have this rubber boot. I cannot find any information on when or why the change was made. even the dealer was surprised at one location when i pointed it out.

Interesting…. I have the boots - but I have the Auto 4WD. 24 Mojave X.
I asked this similar question back in March (right after I took the jeep home). The consensus ( at that time) was only the Auto 4WD had the boots. 🤷‍♀️

It's wierd. When Jeep first offered full time 4WD back in the 70's, the front axle used standard cardan joints. The Grand Cherokee was the first solid axle Jeep, that I know of, to use CV's on the front axle.

The CV's don't bother me. It makes turns in 4WD smoother. I also have 4WD auto on my JT.

One thing I did notice today as I was installing my lift is my JT doesn't have a FAD.
