Hey All

I put my deposit down on April 24th. The Dealership never notified me of any of the jazz and I checked this website last week for information on delivery times, etc. After reading a few posts I reached out to my dealer for my VON and VIN to see for updates. They provided me the last 8 of my VIN and no clue what the first 8(9?) digits are so cant look it up, unless this is a standard first few digits for the JT Rubicon. I also was curious if I signed up for the Tread Lightly membership after I ordered, am I still able to apply that pricing upon receiving the vehicle at the dealership? I know they said I was able to apply the first responders discount when it comes in so I was curious. Looks like I should have came here before putting my deposit down as I was about 3k over invoice.

I don’t think they would let you use the first responder below invoice. I could be wrong. The tread lightly will work, but it’s typically only 1%, so $500ish. I think you need to have the tread light claim code before ordering though.

That's incorrect.

You don't need the FCA control number until you take delivery - much like rebates don't apply until you take delivery.

As far as the tread lightly 1% discount - that's much more than $500.

From the JT Rubicon I just bought, it had a sticker of $53,240 (before delivery fee), and invoice would have been $50,327 (again, before delivery fee), and 1% below that is $49,823. That's a total of $3,416 BELOW MSRP.

$50,327-$49,823=$504. For Tread Lightly, how much is the membership to save $504? $100? Savings of $404. Am I missing something? I think my original post was accurate.

And a few caveats: Please note that according to FCA US policy, you must be an individual $100 member for at least 30 days to qualify for the FCA US Affiliate Rewards new vehicle discount and you must provide a copy of you membership letter to your dealer in order to use the discount (2wks for that). https://treadlightly.org/support/join-tread-lightly/

Most people here are getting 3% or more under dealer invoice, plus the 1% for TL. MSRP is not a deal and no one should look at that as part of their equation.

who said anything about MSRP being a deal?

also, you said TL saves you $500, and as I mentioned that is not true. It saves you several grand vs MSRP. Comparing TL to invoice isn’t reasonable as most dealers don’t advertise invoice, nor do negotiations start at invoice. All pricing starts at MSRP and goes down from there. So, I believe it’s more than fair to calculate the TL savings based off the average dealer’s advertised pricing, which is MSRP.

We’re splitting hairs here. At best, the TL 1% off of $53,240 would be $532.40. Anything you got more than that is part of the dealer offering a deal, an FCA program, or your ability to negotiate. I got 3% under dealer invoice on my JTRD last week—no haggling, and without TL. This is my 3rd factory order since 2018, the other two of which were JLU Saharas at 6% under dealer invoice. My current order is $5,727 under MSRP and $1,830 under dealer invoice.

Your $532 savings assumes that $53,240 is the invoice. So if you are starting at invoice then yes that is all you are saving, but if you are starting at MSRP your savings would be greater.

Didn’t you say MSRP (sticker) was $53,240? $532. And you said invoice was $50,327? $504. Please show your math.

It wasn’t me, but tread lightly gives you 1% below invoice cost, not 1% off. So if MSRP is 50000, and invoice is 46000, tread lightly would let you buy the Jeep for 45540

That I agree with and I don’t think my math contradicts that with subtracting 1% under invoice.
