Does the mopar steel bumper extend further than the plastic?

So I parked in the garage for the first time tonight and I had less than an inch of clearance to close the garage door.

I’m still using the plastic bumper. Would the steel bumper be bigger? I’m concerned about getting the garage door closed if I even breather on this thing. This is kind of important because I’m not comfortable parking out front if the top is off.

I haven't done a direct comparison, but I did switch from the plastic to the OEM steel bumper. And I'd guess they're quite close in profile. This photo may help you get a better idea of what to expect. Do be aware that a winch fairlead could extend forward a bit, too ...

That does look very close to the plastic. Very close, indeed! I’m liking my odds. And good point about the fairlead. Id wondered about that, too. It’s nice to have a picture to visualize. I think I’m still going to take my chances and go for it. Thanks.
