Door Hinge Pin Broke

I was tightening the nut onto the hinge pin and snapped the pin off inside of the bolt. I was the door on with the bottom hinge and bolt and the upper hinge still has some meat attached to it so it’s still connected to the frame well enough. Also have the hinge arm connected.

Question: do I need a new hinge? Is the door secure without it?

again, the door is fully on, just basically missing the upper hinge nut/bolt.

Also, its too late for that particular hinge, but it doesn't take much tightness. I don't know the exact torque spec, but it doesn't take more than a little bit more than hand tight. No reason to crank it on there.

My LJ hinge nuts have been off since about a week after I got it. If you're going to take the doors off often might as well toss them in glovebox or like location.

I have hinge pin guides on my JT from Amazon, and I'm probably putting them on the JK too. They make it easier to get the doors on again without scratching up the hinges, and they protect the threads.

I thought about getting a set of them way back with my LJ but never did not likely to get a set for my JT but it could help with re-install of doors.

I’ve got a drawer full of door hinge bolts, dating back to 1993…

Lol thanks everyone. Making me feel better. I won’t bother replacing the entire hinge then. I do take the doors off pretty regularly.
