Drive without fog inserts / surrounds?

My Sport S came with the silver fog inserts/surrounds and I need to get them painted since my color scheme is heavy Sting Gray + Black. If I remove them, can I drive without them until they are dry? Rarely get a long enough stretch of time I don't drive the vehicle to put on multiple coats.

Asking here because I haven't removed them yet to see what is exposed. Haven't found many photos of them removed to determine if it'd be ok.
