Hey collective,
Question for ya’s that have their Gladiator or have previous Jeeps with the windscreen option. Is there a any
special concerns when doing this.
Aside from debris and animals coming in ;) is their a certain speed restriction. I guess my main concern is damage to glass while lying down. Is this a trail only mode kind of thing?
Or can ya cruise with it down say at a nice 40-45mph. I’ll have to break out my aviator goggles :like:
Cheers all

PS: Can an Admin move this, posted in wrong forum :-/

The windshield is not meant to be folded down at pavement speeds...unless you are crawling around a mall. One of the first things I do at a trailhead is drop the windshield...or at least I did on my Scrambler and '03 Rubicon. When the JK was introduced, I told the Jeep reps at the EJS that I would never buy one since they had made the windshield almost impossible to fold. I should have listened to myself.

The Scrambler windshield could be lowered in less than a minute. I made modifications to my TJ to allow the windshield to be lowered in a similar timeframe. I look forward to dropping the windshield on the Gladiator at nearly every trailhead. I'm a bit disappointed that the windshield frame stays up, but I can live with that. And yes, always tie the windshield down! And wear eye protection if you will be moving more than a few mph. Use common sense...which seems to be a rarity these days.

I wouldn't worry about that. I've got a go pro and a drone and a really nice camera. Plus an orange helmet that i hope matches the punk'n gladiator i am getting.

Anybody have any alternative tie down methods for the windshield? Headed to beach this weekend and no time to wait on mopar straps...

Here is what I can say, we have dropped the windshield on our JLUR (with tie-downs), it is super fun for short jaunts or slow cruises. I would say it loses its fun appeal for us after about 40mph for more than a few miles. The perfect use for the feature besides on the trail is The Woodward Dream Cruise here in Detroit. Other than that, although we leave the roof and doors off all summer, we only put the windshield down a couple times a summer.

I haven't checked out the system yet since I just got mine yesterday, but on past Jeeps, any strap of the right length would work...velcro straps, buckle straps, shoelaces, etc.

I've been unable to get my wipers off to lower the windshield. They are so tight that they flex under the plastic cowl and I gave up, thinking I was going to do damage. Should I just keep yanking on them until they come off??
