FYI - Bestop Sunrider Wear & Tear - Look for this!

I love my Bestop Sunrider on my JT. It has been on three different vehicles now, so it is getting some wear and tear on it. I don't think this is Bestop's fault!

I just wanted to share this so maybe I could save you guys some money. I noticed that my Bestop Sunrider had a small hole in it. When I inspected the top I found the problem. The material was rubbing on the frame. The top was actually designed to prevent this, but my material had folded the wrong way. Check along the edge of your top and make sure the folded over material is under the frame, not above it like mine was. There is actually a plastic strip of material that I think is made so it holds the material straight and under the frame. I hope this post saves some of you from getting a hole like me!

I patched it with this fabric tape which seems like it will be a good fix.

Thanks for the tip I love my Sunrider as well. I know you said it's been on 3 different vehicles but lots of people change vehicle often. So if it's a twill version Bestop warranties the material for up to 5 years.

My wife's Trektop Ultra (JL) has a similar weird natural folding problem. She's gotten a weird little wear mark on both sides of her top but we've caught it early I think. We manually fold it under like they say it's supposed to be. That's a little disappointing, but it is what it is. It would be nice if these things just flipped back and tucked themselves properly.

We do offer a 5-year warranty on the black twill material, covering any manufacturing defects. However, normal wear and tear or accidental damage are not covered under the warranty. Customer Service assesses the issue based on photos provided to determine if it would qualifiy as a manufacturing defect.

It depends, that's a question for Customer Service. To determine what material you have though, if the inside backing of your top is black, you have the black twill, if the inside backing of your top is more gray, you have the black diamond. (the black diamond also has a bumpy texture to it, similar to the way a basketball feels).
