Gladiator Roof Racks

Hi Folks:
Getting ready to get a Sport S and will likely get rain gutter roof racks for my lightweight kayaks. I see where most sellers have them in back of the front roof panel. Does anyone know if this Is just so you can take the panel off, or is there an issue with the front panel supporting the rack? Again, this would be for very light boats that total less than 60 pounds, combined. Although, from time-to-to time a heavier canoe, ladder or two might go on the racks. Thanks!

I have a Rhinorack Pioneer on mine that's clamped onto the gutters and it's held up fine under a load of about 80lbs on both the front and back. My only gripe is that now I cannot take off the freedom top without losing the rack (but that's for a build update later this month)
