Something’s wrong. It should not be drifting down like that. Mine stays at the same constant height. And if you let go of the thumb stick, it should automatically hover.

*edit* if you’re walking up and down hills, yes, it’s going to stay at the same height, which means as the ground rises. It’s going to run into the ground. It does not have terrain, mapping software.

Try active track mode.
I made this video about the mavic 3 pro a while back. I'd guess several of the features might work on yours as well.
Funny thing you should mention the tracking. After I posted, I thought - I wonder if I could make the thing track me until I got to where I was going and then take over again. Thinking that would avoid the problem of the hilly area here as I assume it would try to keep the same "distance" and view of "me" as the trackee.

I mean - when you are standing where I park my car hauler looking north toward my garage - you are looking under the slab if your eyes are level. Looking at the road that goes by our house, in much of our yard, the road is above us.
I got an exemption to build my 2 story shop (shaped like a barn) only because where it sits, the peak of the shop roof sits a lot lower than the top of the house. There's a rule out here that no outbuildings in residential zoning can stand taller than the primary house. Our house is a small single story. The barn is at least 27 feet from floor to peak. On a level lot, my shop would not be possible.
will take a look at the video in a bit.
