TL;DR (too long, didn’t read): yes it works.
I didn’t find any threads about this. In fact, I found a bunch saying “it needs to be from a JT”.
So I scored a pretty good deal on a “8.4” for a jeep Gladiator” off of OfferUp the other day. Installed it in the Walmart parking lot where I met the guy and it lit up, screen was perfect. My inpatient self decided to transfer my existing SiriusXM account right then and there, satisfied that it powered on. Sure there were some strange icons that I had never seen before but maybe it was because they come on the 8.4” only?
Here’s where it takes a turn. Sirius shows the video as a 2022 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited or something like that. My first thought is “crap”. So I throw it in reverse and sure enough, reverse cam is jacked. Only showing on a little more than half the screen. I remember the “wait 24 hours” comments in the other 8.4 upgrade threads so I decide to give it a little while.
2 hours later everything works. Icons have changed, I now have a gladiator symbol for the rear camera button. Reverse cam/video works perfect.
So again, it sure does seem like a JL radio (at least as recognized by SiriusXM) works in a JT. I forgot to take a pic of the model number.
