You can clean up the Samsung phones a little or a lot, depending on how hard you want to work.
But yea, some people want everything to just work, and don't care that they have no say in HOW it works. Others like to customize and personalize and tweak things.
Heck, my wife and I both have the exact same phone, but we've configured and customized them so differently one can barely use the other's.
One thing I could never get my wife's Samsung phone to do - OS updates over the cell data. It insists that it be connected to wifi to update. I could even get my LG phone to update over cell data, but not a Samsung. I don't understand what idiot there decided that updates over cell should never be allowed!
Heck, cell is the only internet my parents even had, so they could have never updated a phone.
It's the most stupid thing to lock down. What sort of logic is it?

Android/PC household 100%. My wife even switched to a Samsung after using mine. lol

Right now I have a Samsung S25 Ultra, a couple PC laptops, and a 24TB NAS server in my closet which takes backups from all my devices nightly and hosts my Plex server.

The only apple product I've ever owned was a Macbook Pro in college.

When the iPod came out, I already had a Sandisk Sansa E250 MP3 player which was way ahead of the iPod.

I've always been into software and tech, and Apple products just have too many limitations in how you can use them... For example, If you want to use an iPod or iPhone, then you need to use iTunes. If I wanted to use my Sandisk mp3 player or Android devices to store some obscure file, I can just plug it into any USB port and use it like a USB storage device.

For smart watches... I use the AmazFit T-Rex 3 smart watch. Battery lasts for about a month even with constant heart and blood oxygen monitoring. I will not wear a smart watch that requires frequent charging and really, I would prefer to wear my other watches but I've had recent necessity to monitor vitals.

That option has been in Samsung phones as long as I can remember.

Allways using Android up to 2-3 years ago when the company decided I-phone as standard for everybody.

Ditched it after two years and went back to Android. So fck company policy, have a XCover 6 Pro now ...

Apple pad/phone/watch. Simple, never had to twit around with them to work…hell it even comes with no written instructions. I’ve owned most of brands over the last 20 years, the apple crap suits my needs for simple. Oh, one last thing, over the air updates, are my favorite part of the apple gig…I have not Spent a single minute wasting my time fussing with that crap to get it to work, Simple.

iPhone for me

I just up graded from a 13Pro to a 17Pro, on Wednesday

Switched from Blackberry to iPhone in 2012 (IIRC)

I looked into Androids, and was not interested

I wanted something simple to set-up and use, which from what I found (at that time anyway) Androids were not

To each their own

Not on my wife's phone. I even went to Android support sites . That option doesn't exist on her flip 4

Keep your work phone separate from your personal phone. The freedom to leave your work on your desk is worth it.

Thanks for the advise. Very much appreciated.

But I am combining personal and work phone since more than 20 years and think I know how to handle it.

Fortunately I am not that important that I am getting a call every 10 minutes ... 🍻

Possible your carrier disables it.
A quick google turned up a support request for the Flip 4 on Samsung's own website asking the exact opposite: how to STOP their phone from updating over cellular.

Fair enough. Yeah when I had my phones combined, I found myself constantly answering emails after hours and never really disconnecting.

Now, I walk away and I don't bring my work phone outside the home office. Important people know how to reach me.

Bill, their business models runs at full product turns every 18 months…tech on the time line misses a lot of models (usually less the high end stuff) for R&D forward $’s. Where on the time line you purchase in that 18 months, will also predict parts and software as well.

Our carrier allows it. Can do it on my android and the lg phones before. Samsung is the only phone we have had that didn't allow it......all the same carrier.

Yeah, it's a crazy industry - like the PC industry was in the 90s.
If you don't introduce something new, even if it's not earth-shattering new tech, you fall behind.
And of course, consumers eat it up.
I love the posts on this neighborhood thing I check now and then where someone brags about loving their new iPhone 17pro then a week later "wah, I don't have money for gas, can someone give me a ride to work". Why did you NEED that fancy, expensive phone - and on your income?
(and people on facebook gripe about how money these days doesn't buy anything - yeah, it would, if you didn't need the most expensive new phone every 12 months
We generally skip a couple of generations of phones - why bother upgrading if the phone works perfectly, has no hiccups or flaws, and gee, it works just like a phone should?
But my wife's prior phone went south just before a big trip - battery went bad.......... it was getting older, and she saw a shiny in the window and wanted that folding flip 4. I tried to explain - yeah, cool, it folds - you'll never fold it and it's not exactly high end otherwise........... but it was shiny and new and the commercials on TV made it look like everyone wanted one. She bit. And she's never folded it.
Anyway, I jumped into a more pure android and dumped the other brands and went with a Google phone. I hate the company, dislike some of the stuff they pull - but I don't like the junk the others force into the OS on a phone.

Next step may be to dump Windows because every week I get crap about x-box and games and JUNK popping up from mickysoft. I've never plaid a game on a computer in my life, am not about to, and won't ever own x-box so why is it built into the OS for a laptop?
i know - the same reason you can't turn on any TV show and not see some marketing crap for that stupid "Wicked" movie - even in commercials for other products - that's all you see - marketing.
