LOD Destroyer Rear Bumper 21 Gladiator

Trying to install the LOD rear bumper and have some issues with the trailer hitch. The Jeep does NOT have the factory receiver hitch. We had a Curt bolt on hitch. I believe any type of bolt on hitch is a no go. Also the rear cross member that the hitch bolts onto must be notched on the bottom. What’s misleading on the instructions is that they show the non receiver hitch crossmember in the instructions, and with the bumper installed, they show the cross member with the factory reciever. The factory receiver hitch/crossmember will work without modifications. LOD needs to update instructions and notes to tell folks the bumper will not work with bolt on receivers and the non reciever cross member will need to be cut as in the pictures to just install the bumper. Maybe LOD can comment next week.

The Gladiator Rear Bumper was designed to work with the factory hitch only. As you can see from the photos that we developed the prototypes on the non receiver hitch cross member, so it does fit both options without cutting anything. Unless of course if Jeep changed the design...

Well as you can see in the picture, without cutting the Jeep factory non receiver hitch cross member, it will not fit on a 21. We had to cut the ears on the bottom of the factory hitch plate to allow the bumper to slide all the way on. Any type of a bolt on receiver will NOT work. The Jeep version or any aftermarket version. Your website should reference that the bumper will not work with a bolt on hitch. I can speak for the 21 Gladiator, the only hitch that will work with the bumper is the factory welded receiver hitch. Bumper looks good. We ordered a factory receiver hitch cross member to hopefully take care of the issue. Thanks for your reply

Well thats odd, not sure why it would fit ours and not your Jeep. Either way we will look into it. Thanks for posting the pictures, your Jeep looks good! Love the color!
