I just completed the install of the MB Quart 6 speaker replacement kit and figured I’d share my thoughts.

This was phase one of upgrade and was strictly a speaker swap. 3 1/2 for the dash 6 1/2 for the kick panels and 6x9 for the sound bar. Also added a Kicker Hideaway 10” subwoofer behind the rear seat.

My Gladiator came with the base sound system and 7” screen so all of the above was a huge upgrade…. Except… The 6x9s. I utilized the factory connections in the sound bar and ran the wires from the oem woofer to the 6x9 woofer and the tweeter harness directly to the center tweeters. The dash and kick panel speakers sound amazing, which makes the mediocre 6x9 sound even more disappointing.

I plan to run my kicker key 200.4 to power the 6.5 and 6x9s with hopes that it’s helps but I’m not betting on it. If there’s not a drastic improvement with the amp I’ll just replace the 6x9s with something better. The hard part is over - cutting the plastic and installing the 6x9 adapter plate. I also laid down some dynamat and filled the sound bar with poly fill.

The kicker hideaway 10” sounds great for what it is. It adds a significant amount of bass over the oem setup. I plan to leave it for now until I find a box and subwoofer that I will pair with my kicker key 500.1

I did the same thing this past weekend. I also have the Sub / amp combo as well but still need some install parts for that one. I have as suspicion that I'll want the JL Audio sub solution though.

I also just did the 6x9s. I see alot of people hate on them. They are built for stong mid bass and some low bass. the factory 7" is absoulte garbage with those waves. It completely pulls everything out of highs to try and hit them. Playing with the factory EQ helped alot but you have to pull low and boost mids and highs. They are also a bit more power hungry then factory, well alot more lol. They made more volume for me then stock, but definatlay need an amp and a DSP to get the most out of them. I had an identical MB Quart set of 6x9s in my 2013 Dart and they where amazing, I 100% beleive this is a head unit concern.
