As I would like to tune up the sound of the speakers I finally ordered the 6x9" MB Quart speakers.
But after reading so much pro and contra I'm not sure any more...
Before I start cutting : who can confirm that it wil be better in sound?
I'm planning to use dynamat on de inside of the boxes and fill them with polyfill.
I already swapped the dash speakers with Quadratecs, but I don't hear any difference.
I'm not planning to do the under dash speakers, nor sub.
Won' t I lose bass with the MB's in the soundbar installed?
Oh, I have the 8.4 Uconnect, no Alpine pack.

what makes you think you would be losing bass?
Read a post about it from some one who replaced the factory speakers with aftermakets...

It's a physically bigger speaker, it should move more air. It's possible that person reversed the polarity of one speaker, putting them out of phase with each other and eliminating bass.

Only other thing I could think of is there isn't enough air behind the 6x9 but I haven't heard that noted.

OK. I suppose using dynamat can't do any harm. But howmuch polyfill is optimal?

What did you use for the dash speaker?...I don't know what Quadratecs are. I replaced mine with Kickers and it's a night and day difference. The stock speakers are complete garbage no bass what so ever. Change the Under dash speakers. They will make the biggest difference. If you use the 6x9 in the roll bar you'll have to buy an adapter. I chose to just replace the speakers with 4" and 3.5" kickers. Complete difference from stock. 6x9 should should better but you have to modify. In any case you'll want a small amp to fully take advantage of the new speakers.

You're way overthinking this. If you really want to toss a little polyfill in there go for it. Usually used when you're dealing with subwoofers and measures based on cubic feet, not inches. Just pack it loosely if you do it. Too much is worse than too little.

Or just experiment with it until you get the desired results.

By stock do you mean the upgraded Alpine of the basic system?

when i put the mb's in, i lost all bass from that fake port that was in the soundbar. it was not a polarity issue. did the bass still hit, yes, but it was not nearly as prominent as the stock speakers with that bass port making an illusion of bass, this was on a 5" stock radio sport. I hated everything about that audio setup. The highs and mids were much better though and that was the ultimate goal bc i was adding subs regardless.

I have not installed them on my new 7.4" radio equipped gladaitor, just havent gotten around to it tbh.

I could be wrong, but I thought if you had the 8.4, you had the upgraded Alpine....

I "think" his was built during the chip shortage......so he didn't get it. I ordered mine last week and the Alpine system came with the 8.4
