I can’t find a weight rating for the Mopar removable rails (part# 82215631) and was looking for feedback on if it could support a rooftop tent or not?
The Mopar basket thing (part# TCCAN859) has a 150lb weight limit. If that’s a good indication of capacity for the trail rails and the removable rails, I’m not sure. I’ve seen a Smittybuilt tent that comes in at a gross weight of 132lbs. So in my mind it should work.
My use case is simple, a rooftop tent that will be removed and stored when not in use. I don’t necessarily want a rack like a JCR half rack (although it looks pretty sweet) on full time as that would also mean I need to buy a tonneau cover that works with it. I already have the OEM cover so I don’t really want to deal with selling and replacing.
If I can safely carry the RTT on the removable rails it would be way cheaper and less stuff to store when not in use.
Thoughts?
