A deer collision totaled our family vehicle while on vacation in Montana last month. We wouldn’t have tried to purchase a car in this bizarro car market otherwise.

The current market situation and FCA 90 day zero payment financing allowed us to complete the following deal:

custom ordered gladiator Mojave at 9% off MSRP (~4% off invoice). In the meantime, they put us in a brand new loaded Mojave with payments and financial obligation until the new car arrives.

When the new car arrives the dealer basically guarantees a purchase price buyback of the temp gladiator. This is possible only because of the current used car market and the FCA 90 day financing deal. The dealer is able to get credited with 2 sales. They also get a kickback from FCA on the financing of the first vehicle.

Customer orders are fulfilled with priority over orders for dealer inventory. This allows them to retain their lot inventory and still sell you a new Jeep.

to me this sounded a bit too good to be true, but my sales rep was upfront in discussion the structure of the deal… and I got it complete yesterday.

The drawbacks I see are:
1. You have to take on a loan for the full amount of the first vehicle.
2. You will need good credit score to qualify
3. You have to carry the loan on your actually vehicle for 3 months before paying off to avoid early payoff penalty ( though you can put down a large down payment when the time comes)
4. Driving a nicer vehicle may make you wish you ordered the building differently
5. Extra activity in your credit history.

Benefits:
1. You can get into a gladiator immediately while waiting for your exact config
2. You have 1.5-3months of payment free driving of a new car with free mileage consumption.( If the build takes longer than that… they cover the extra payments)
3. You get that brand new car feeling a second time with you new vehicle.
4. if you have a second vehicle, you have the opportunity to trade that in when the new Jeep arrives.
5. You don’t have to put down the down payment for the custom ordered vehicle until the car arrives.

I got this deal done at Renton CJDR. Sales rep was Justin. It was the last day of the month so it made the negotiation a bit easier. I didn’t some searching and wasn’t aware any other dealers have figured out this loophole, but they have done about 30 of these deals since the FCA incentive came out. Cant guaranteed you can negotiate the same discount, but the loaner situation is valid during the FCA promotion on high demand Jeeps
