Restrictions on installing an aftermarket steel bumper

Hi guys, is there any restrictions on installing an aftermarket steel bumper? I have a ‘23 Rubicon and it came with the plastic front bumper. I recently got a Mopar lift and 37s installed.

Restrictions …as in…???

A possible concern……. is the airbag sensors (wherever they would be) inability to sense a crash due to design of an aftermarket bumper. Back 20 years ago….bumpers were often labeled (or not) as ‘airbag’ compatible. I’m not exactly sure what that means (technically or mechanically) but might be something you’d want to research further (if that’s a concern to you).

Another concern…. The overall weight of the bumper. Your recent ‘lift’ won’t be much of a lift after you install a heavier bumper.

The plastic bumper is very Flimsy my neighbor wrecked his wrangler on the Mississippi river Bridge in Baton Rouge it bent the frame and did not set off airbags I replaced my gladiators plastic bumper with a steel bumper and winch. There’s no sensors in most gladiators bumpers if your has sensors then the new bumper needs a way to mount old sensors I did add 1 1/2 inch spacer lift to compensate for sag caused by increased weight

Your factory fog lights won't work. Different bracket between plastic and steel bumpers.

Other than that, "Let`er rip tater chip".
