Welcome Samson into the World!

191202 - S10.jpg

I picked up Samson at Tri-City on Monday from Travis.

As soon as I pulled in my driveway, the original Rubicon wheels and tires were swapped for a set of Launch Edition wheels with 35-inch Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, secured with a set of Black Gorilla Automotive Wheel Lock lug nuts ) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4VSVYG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and OEM TPMS ( https://parts.allmoparparts.com/oem-parts/mopar-sensor-tire-pressure-68464665aa )

A few other quick add-ons that day were:

  • Roll-up Soft Tonneau cover (OEM) - bought via Forum

A big thanks to a lot of you that have shared a bunch of the part numbers above. There are more parts in the garage and the bed gets Bullet Liner next week - more to come!

Today, I dropped Samson off at SunStoppers - Rock Hill to get the Tailgate wrapped and the front windows tinted. I had previously purchased a spare grill from another Forum member and dropped it off to also be wrapped.

I like how the front windows came out:

The wrap on the tailgate is exactly what I wanted. Anyone in the area, I was the "Guinea Pig" - they now have it down to a science.

I can't wait to install the front grill. I could not tonight due to rain. I need to remove the original grill from my JT so I can take the center "mesh" section out. It has the mount for the trail cam that the donor grill did not. I have it 90% assembled waiting for tomorrow.

More to come tomorrow as well. Installing a leveling kit and few other parts.

What percent tint did you go with to match the rear?

Looks great. What did the tailgate wrap cost you?

It's bad that I don't know.... I just went to Greg at Sunstoppers in Rock Hill and had him match the rear. He does great work so I don't have to know. I bet if you give him a call he'd tell you. Just mention the Sting Grey Gladiator in Rock Hill, he'll know.:like:

I am a bit behind on keeping up with posting the build. On Saturday, the the following were installed:

- 1.5-inch Terraflex Level kit on the front ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WG3K5RG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

- Daystar 0.75-inch level kit on the rear ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V82BNNQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

This was all done thanks to a bunch of help from @DMC1 and the use of his awesome heated shop!

Yesterday, I had time to install the grill that I had wrapped at Sunstoppers in Rock Hill. Turns out, if you have the trail cam (like Samson does), and you are swapping the grill for another Rubicon grill that does not have the trail cam - you need two different pieces:

1. The center plastic “mesh” section is different to accommodate the camera body.

2. Two additional metal screws inserts that pop right out of the original grill and easily into the non-original grill.

I recommend you think about Item 2 before you have everything assembled and can’t figure out why the camera mount screws won’t screw in.... just saying.

yes, I had to take it all back apart to move those screw inserts.

It does look good (IMO). I like that the insets for the grill vents and lights are the original Rubicon dark grey and the grill is satin black. Another satisfied customer (me)!

Had a Bullet Bed Liner installed (sprayed) yesterday at Dealer Options in Augusta, GA. I am impressed with the product, price and attention to detail by Dealer Options. They covered all of the threaded holes in the bed so they would not get boogered up when I am planning a trail rail type system. Plus they took off and reinstalled my tonneau.
