So, when I turn off the traction control in my Mojave (full off, pro+ or whatever it’s called and hold down traction button) I get a service abs and brake warning lamp.
Similarly when I drive in 4lo, service ESS pops up. Once I get to about 12-15 mph. (Edit, now it seems to be like 30 seconds… maybe a couple hundred yards)

It also doesn’t display which gear I’m in (manual transmission) while the “service ess” warning is active regardless of transfer case selection.

Cycle the ignition and it goes back to normal until I do the same again. Nothing else changes until ignition cycle.

both the abs and the ess are unavailable In that configuration, but I wouldn’t expect warning lights… or at least they should turn off when the configuration is back to “normal”.

It’s like it’s got the wrong program going. Wonder if it was screwed up when they did the reprogram for the clutch recall. I got it second hand so I don’t know if it was always like this.

Checked batteries, both are putting out good voltage when disconnected from eachother. Figured it wasn’t that since it’s only in lo range.

i “re learned” 6th gear as it seems to have a transmission related issue (gear indicator shuts off just before the service light turns on.

after discharging the system it seems my esc off button isn’t working.

dealer can’t get me in for quite a while.

maybe I need to direct @JeepCares last time it was in i got a “further diagnosis recommended”. So? That’s what I did. Got a p08a6. Code out of it. Which is why I did the re-learn procedure…. Multiple times.

another fun thing it does… at 40mph the traction control and esc turn back on… which isn’t what they’re supposed to do in the Mojave according to the manual. Hit 40mph and it’s bong bong bong and all the various lights are on.

also when ess comes on… front camera won’t work… if I pull up the rear camera, it freezes the head unit till rebooted or ignition cycled.

Yup. followed the instructions…
There SHOULD be no need to relearn. It’s always been bone stock. It’s done it ever since I’ve owned it. At 13000 miles or so.
I have the tazer (it was doing it before tazer) and the tires are set to 32.75. Which I believe is correct for falken wild peaks from factory. I disconnected the battery and grounded the terminals and got a little spark out then nothing. Then I let it sit for a couple hours for good measure. Seemed to be completely discharged.

For people that have the problem that is fixed by relearn, it happens all the time. For me it’s only in 4lo. Although I have on a couple of occasions had the “ess not ready” for seemingly no reason. One person with a similar but not same said the dealer replaced the clutch “interlock” switch or some such. Just found that.

You don't know what tires were on it before the previous owner got rid of it tho.... or what if any mods were removed....

Check the hood switch as well. Read all of the replies in that thread.

True true true. I make assumptions based on the evidence. But I could be wrong.
That’s why I did the relearn. I did it a while ago as well. But figured maybe I did it wrong. So now I’ve done it 4 times or so. As well the tazer says everything’s hunky dory. Which gets mixed results in the forum.

I’ll drive around tomorrow and see if it magically fixes itself as now I have a good route and know for sure I’ve de-powered the system.

oh and for anyone that disconnects the battery…. Just hold down the power and browse buttons to get your off road pages back in short order.

I think it's definitely a Manual trans thing...either the sensor or the relearn not being meticulously performed as detailed in the service bulletin and video in that thread. All those guys mention manual trans, 4Lo, your CEL, and losing cameras and ESS....too many matching experiences.

I know. Well. I didn’t run into people talking about 4 lo much. Just the guy that had a clutch interlock replaced.
But … you know… try sorting through the thousands of ess threads.

Most ESS issues are Aux killing the main. Yours isn't an ESS issue it seems to be a cascading BCM shit show due to something out of range. I think you're close to finding it given the symptoms.

Yea there is likely one funky thing funkifyong data to one unit causing a cascade of bad data.
A bit ago I had the third brake light fail and that was storing abs codes (as they haven’t come back since replacement I made that conclusion)

these can busses can be fidgety. Put led tail lights on my 06 gto….Srs and ABs lights popped on 5 miles later. But that was a relatively easy fix (and my initiation into the world of canbus.

Possibly unrelated. But I’m also getting the radio frequency hub (rfh) throwing u140E-00 (implausible vehicle configuration). Nothing the rfh controls seems to be failing. Erase it and it comes right back. P086a does not automatically come back unless I trip the error by being in 4 wheel low for several seconds, moving.

I just had a similar thing happen in my Mojave. But mine is automatic. I was in 4Lo, popped it back into 4hi and accidentally bumped the TCS off button. When I went to turn TCS back on the ABS light and error message came on. I turned the truck off and on again, this cleared the ABS light, but TCS wouldn’t come back on. I drove the truck in 2hi for a few miles with TCS off, and tapped the TCS button again and it came back on.
This wasn’t the first time with strange error lights when off roading, another time I was trying to navigate some rocks in 4lo and the Service 4wd light came on after i went over them. On that same day the rear diff lock kept getting stuck and wouldn’t disengage.
I am chalking this all up to Fiat/Mopar gremlins. I’m just gonna beat the shit out of it until the warranty expires.
