Ugh, between the wifey's JL and my JT, we're accumulating stuff over here. Bumpers, fenders, fender liners, headlights, suspension bits and pieces, rims,....

Being new to the Jeep world what do I do with all these OEM parts?

Will junkyards buy them off me in bulk?
Sell em on Facebook/Craigslist?
Will insurance companies buy them for repairs?

What do I do? I sure don't wanna just throw them away. I don't wanna keep them either!

I'm starting a shrine in my attic. šŸ˜‚. Same problem. Don't wanna throw em out but nobody really wants the oem takeoffs either, besides maybe a grille or led lights etc.

Yeah my thinking is...people get in wrecks. And contrary to what it may seem like at a site like this, not everyone mods their Jeeps. As crazy as it seems to us, some people just buy a Jeep and leave it alone! Those people need factory OEM parts, and so do repair shops and insurance companies. There has to be a way we modders can get our undamaged OEM take-off parts into the hands of the people that actually need them.

Or maybe you wanna trade your Jeep in for a new one but you don't wanna give up your mods. Take your good stuff off and put OEM stuff back on for the trade. Maybe that's something people need parts for.

Basically I just wanna get rid of all this stuff. šŸ˜€

Insurance companies aren’t gonna take that stuff. A junk yard probably won’t take it either unless you donate them for free (and even, that’s a stretch).

The first places I would go, is posting this stuff on Facebook Groups (assuming its allowed). There are lots of Jeep Parts Groups, local Jeep club groups, or other jeep related facebook groups.

Then, you could use FB Marketplace or Craigslist.

However you sell your stuff….., just be careful. Make sure you get paid first before shipping anything. If it’s a local pickup - DO NOT have them drive to your house. Meet at a local gas station or restaurant. CASH is king……

I sold my OEM 255/75-17 BFG Mud Terrains pretty quick on Craigslist.

I admit I haven't put much effort into the other stuff yet. I need to take a bunch of pics.

I threw in my front bumper for free with the wheels. Now I’m looking for a gently used 37x12.5x17 to use as a full size spare.

Where you at and what fenders do you have? I may be interested in taking those off your hands

I've had nothing but awesome experiences when I have folks come to the house. I'm been selling stuff online since 1998, sold bass boat, full size pick up, high dollar items and never one problem! Actually i've had some really good jeep conversations since you will have something in common.

Funny story, I was trying to sell my springs , (for $35) after 9 years, a couple ended up getting them and spent over a grand worth of take off parts I was going to have since i was getting ready for my gladiator.

Some police departments offer a "Safe zone" with cameras, if you are looking for something more secure.

I’m glad you haven’t had any problems. Iā€˜ve never had any problems either. I might still have folks come to the house for large items (furniture).

There’s a first time for everything…..especially in this-day-n-age. I prefer to protect myself and drive a few miles to the local Sheetz. šŸ˜Ž

I've been to and have had people to my house for various P2P internet deals and sales. Being an active musician I'm always buying and selling stuff. The absolute sketchiest deals I've ever done have always been in public spaces where you think it would be safer.

I sold a guitar one time at 6 am in a Boot Barn parking lot. LOL. The guy insisted it had to be early morning at that place. It was still dark and the guy was wearing sunglasses and I swear that dude was on some seemingly very good meth and he kept one hand in his pocket the whole time. So sketchy. It was so sketchy it was outright funny. I was thinking this is a really dumb way and place to die, but it aint gonna be me. He had all the cash and I had 1911 in my waistband so I felt fine. He looked at the guitar and paid me without a single word spoken. He didn't even haggle the price. Surreal.

Another time I went to a guy's house to buy an amp speaker cabinet. This dude was a full-on textbook classic hoarder. He invited me into that nightmare home as if it was totally normal. I was like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK as we meandered through some trails cutting through the carnage of clutter and trash and it stunk so bad but he had the cab in a back room and I checked it out and left with it.

You have to embrace these colorful moments of life. Living in fear stops you from having these experiences. If you die you die, at least you'll have a good story!
