Next up for me is getting my windows tinted but I’m not sure how dark to go. I tried searching but couldn’t find a master thread for this so figured I’d try starting one.

Could everyone post their Gladiators with tinted windows and tell us what percentage you got? Would love a thread to compare before deciding what to get.

I would go as dark as Delaware allows.
Texas allows you to be "limousine" dark
except the front side windows
which have to allow 25% light through.
Mine was purchased in PA
so I don't know what the tint actually is.

I had the front driver/passenger doors tinted to match the factory tint on the back doors, 20%

Windshield 50%

Zero issues with visibility at night.

Make sure you go with quality tint. I can tell a big difference on hot days. Cabin feels cooler when she's been sitting outside all day at work. Steering wheel or seats aren't hot to the touch.

35% front doors and 20-25% on rear doors + rear window. This being said I’ll never buy tent again unless it has ceramic in it. I put clear ceramic tent/film on the windshield of a GMC terrain that I had before the gladiator and it was amazing the difference it had on the heat inside the vehicle.

Sadly, Delaware doesnt really allow tint on the front two windows or windshield. The official law is 70% which is pretty much not tinted lol. Lots of installers here offer the option to take it off and reinstall it for inspection every few years

I had seen some stuff about ceramic tint and wasnt sure if it was just a marketing gimmick or actually made a difference. Good to know!

Here in Texas, we no longer have annual inspections (woohoo!), unless you live in one of the counties under EPA occupation.

However, a LEO anywhere can pull your whip over on suspicion and use a tint gauge to determine a violation and write a citation.

I have no frigin clue what percentage it is….. It was a pain in my ass just trying to get an idea of what to get and wanting/needing to actually SEE IT before commiting.

So, I took the easy way out …. I got the front driver/passenger windows to match the rear windows.

If you ask me…it’s perfect. It’s harmless enough that it hasn’t attracted the attention of the local police and passed inspection. Yea…PA has some strict rules about tint.

I have UltraVision’s Chameleon Tint - “Sunset.” Link at bottom. Could not even begin to tell you what percentage it is.

I had only planned on doing the windshield for the orange/red color, but ended up doing the front door windows too. Those did not exactly go as planned, as I was not expecting the straight-through view to be mostly blue. That is how a lot of backlight (straight-through view) shows them though. You really have to be at a pretty sharp angle for the intended orange/red look to show.

The windshield… straight-on just looks dark and with a blue hue to it. It really all just depends on the lighting outside (sunny, cloudy, etc). Different angles too.

I did this in November of 2022 (bought the Jeep May of 2022) and I have not bothered to change the doors, so I guess it has grown on me. I did just redo the windshield, thanks to a rock BLAST at 40K miles. First/Only one too, so I guess I should consider myself lucky.

Also, I just did not want police hassle. Advertisements (Instagram) have their appearance tricks to get you and they got me. Hah!

NO, they do not at all appear blue from the inside. Weird, but kind of cool. IDK.

On the subject of tint...I've ordered a few pre-cut pieces for the front windows, but every time I apply it the tint looks blueish. Am I ordering the wrong type of tint and does our JT's have a slight factory tint in the glass causing the tint to look blue? I want the fronts to match the factory rears which is tinted gray.

I'm in illinois so basically every restriction already listed, plus more, apply. I haven't decided yet if it's even worth the time and money with what little I can do.

It is. Make sure it’s a ceramic tint. It makes the window much more difficult to break and will reduce the heat inside.
