FCA has announced a safety recall and a stop sale on certain 2020 Model Year Jeep Gladiators (see official announcements [PDF]). This affects Gladiators produced between December 15, 2018 and June 25, 2019. This comprises a pool of 3,427 Gladiators and the estimated percentage of defect within this group is 5%
The recall and stop sale relates to a bad drivetrain issue — certain Gladiators may have a rear driveshaft that was manufactured without grease in the monoblock joint within the center of the rear driveshaft. This condition may result in a fractured driveshaft.
