Just read that the Gladiator may be on the way OUT due to very bad sales
I guess we don't have anything better to do on a Sunday afternoon.

Gladiator is selling fine. Reality is the market as a whole is finally starting to normalize to some extent. Car sales as a whole are slowing between inflation and rising interest rates.

My honest opinion is they will put a more powerful motor in it soon to regain the minimal lost ground.
Should we take bets on the "more powerful motor" idea, since they never do. I was on the Tacoma forum for years before I got the JTR, and that was the prediction every year. They still have an engine worse than the Pentastar.

Compared to others, and relative to itself, it doesn’t appear as dismal as you’re implying OP. A link to the article would go a long way to make this a more engaging conversation (unless stirring the pot was the intention).

Everyone's sales are down except for the vehicles that are new, or have been recently updated like the Frontier. I bet on the Ford, Chevy, Nissan (Titan) forums, someone is pulling their chains too. "All is lost, all is lost, the sky is falling".

I’m gonna wait until winter and hopefully get a desperate dealer trying to sell a hellrasin challenger wide body scat.
Hellraisin is a great color. I have seen it on a Charger WB but not a Challenger standard or WB. Good luck and have fun in it if you get one.

Is the pentastar really better than the Tacoma engine?

Well, it's better in my opinion. I've had five Tacomas from Gen2 to Gen3, and the Tacoma engine/AT is a dog. I bought one and traded it in on a MT TRDPro the next year, that was better, but the JTR MT is better still, particularly off road and crawling - no question. I've been driving 4X4s since 1968, and I'd put my JTR MT in the top 2 or 3 - number one was my 73 CJ-5 with the granny 1st gear, but then the wheelbase was much smaller. I bought it in 73, by the way, for $3500 new. The other contender was a M38-A1 I got as surplus in 1968 just after high school.

Just to point out again, it was said multiple times between announcement and production started that Stellantis was aiming towards a niche market, and wasn't planning large sale volumes. I wouldn't be surprised if the sales figures are better than expected, even. I sure do seem to see a lot of them around.

That said, a lot has changed in the world during those first few model years.

There's just no reason not to make a gladiator, even if movement is minimal. So much engineering is shared with the Wrangler. It's not costing them much to do.
Right, the most costly part is the tooling and R&D and it's all done. The only justification I could see is if it were to be more cost effective to use the production line for another model or just churn out more Wranglers instead. And I imagine the profit margins are similar on those

With them phasing out ICE challengers and 2023 being the very last year of gas powered challengers before they go electric, I am thinking the ICE ones may get more expensive as a collector.
