Meeting up with my local group this weekend. Luckily I won't need it for the first trail ride but in the pre-planning for their events they set a dedicated CB channel to be used on any given event so it looks like i'll definitely need to install one soon. That being said after looking into the cobra 75 all road it looks like a no brainer. I didn't really wrap my head around what it was until i started watching videos about it. I can just run it out of my center console or media plug when in use and stash it when not. I was imagining hard mounting the box and the controller being hard wired in. Only issue now is where to mount the actual box/antenna. I've found some antenna brackets that will mount between the cab and bed. Just gotta figure out how to run the cable inside and an out of the way place to mout/wire the box itself and i'll be golden. I plan to add some voswitch aux switches to my panel first so i'll likely put the control box behind the kick plate or glovebox. Issue will be running the coax from behind the cab up there hidden. Power wires should be easy to hide up to the relay box.

Where did you find antenna mounts that go between cab and bed? Please share.
EDIT: apparantly the first video and site is banned here for some reason. Removed it as to not violate any TOS. If you search youtube for Jeep gladiator antenna bed mount im sure you'll find it among the videos.

This guy also has an interesting mounting solution but in the video he just says its a standard FL antenna mount, i haven't quite found the exact one he's using but i do like his idea of mounting it lower in the bed making the cable easier to hide. AJ Phillips' video is here:

CB radios are on their way out, I’m in 4 different clubs and everyone has switched to gmrs, race radios and or ham. The higher the antenna is mounted over the vehicle the better reception, that also goes for small stubby types
Must be nice. Mine is clinging to them and discouraging handing out handheld GMRS radios on the trail.

I picked up a cobra 75 all road and i'm planning to mount it under the driver kick plate. I also have the antenna/mount combo i want to use. I'll be mounting it on a bracket between the bed and the cab on the drivers side most likely but it'll go on either. Question is the following. How do I run the coax into the cabin from the front of the bed? I think i can run it along the lower side panels I just don't know how to get the wire in the cabin.

so interesting thing here. I know so many people hate the cb. But truth is a lot still use it. Log trucks for example. Being a forester i deal with it a bunch. Our sale administrators have had some interesting run-ins with them recently. Last month a log truck and civilian vehicle collided. Both were at fault. Had the civilian vehicle had a cb and know how to use it it might have been avoided.

but the government being what it is we only us UHV/VHF. So I put in a special request to our forest radio person to order a handful of CB’s. even funnier is they are not allowed to install them. Yet they can order them, but even having a gov purchase card I cannot buy them. So he has to order them, then I have to take them to my house since I have the right tools to install them. If that doesnt sound weird enough.
But this is a pretty critical safety factor for the sale administrators because they are constantly in touch with the loggers and truck drivers. But none of the truck drivers on any current sales we have use the UHF/VHF frequency band, and requiring that in the sale contract would put undue strain on the purchaser.

so. CB’s are still vital.

There’s a rubber drain plug under the carpet that’s basically under the storage tray. I ran a cable through there last week. Super easy.

I think i know which one you're talking about. After doing some crawling uderneath I found that plug, it's definitely one of my options for running that cable. My only concern is securing the cable down the bed gap and up the under carriage up until he plug. How did you secure it from flopping around?

My second option is the outflow valve between the cab and the bed. Theres a plug in the bed that gives me access to it, it doesnt seem to be airtight or anything. Are there any issues with running a cable through that vent and then down the lower side panels?

I live in and frequently drive through dusty environments So I wouldn’t want to prop that cab vent open for cable. I was able to secure the cable to the bed, between the cab, using a ziptie and some holes that were already in the bed. On the passenger side, if you look up from underneath, you’ll see 2 or 3 holes close together. I was able to pull the wheel liner back a bit and get my hand up in there to thread the ziptie through them. (I’ve used them so many times that I can connect and zip them with one hand haha) I can try to get a pic for you tomorrow during the daylight.

That'd be a big help. If i can get it secured away from the wheel well and into that plug it would save me from having to fiddle with the back seats and panels behind them. I think the lower trim panels from the driver passenger forward just pull straight out.

I took the underseat tray out (4 easy bolts) and pulled the carpet back. It’s right there towards the middle of the floor.

the plug sits above the rail or fuel tank, I didn’t really get a good look, so it’s protected.

I’ll get you that pic later today. ??

oh sorry about that. The one I used is here. The end of the arrow I drew is the back of the center console. This pic is looking in through the passenger side rear door

That helps a bit, from the looks of them they're underneath the storage underneath the rear seats right? I can't see those plugs from underneath at all. The only ones that seem easy to access are are a bit forward of those next to the floor mat bolt clips(that black bolt just on the backend of the panel tool in the picture.) Those don't look like drains though, they're just plastic plugs. Do i need to unbolt that huge skid plate that runs along the passenger side to get to the one you have circled??
