Hopefully OVS owners can weigh in here. I’m planning on getting the cap but also wanted to make a homemade camper set up in the bed. I was thinking about putting 2x4’s into where the trail rail bolts into but I’m not sure it will clear the clamps. So will it clear the clamps?

I'm going to follow this. I would like to grab a used topper and make a frame. My original idea was to create something like this which is a Tacoma with a 5 foot bed. Using a platform that utilizes the whole bed would probably be better for my dog and I, but I want my fridge in the back.

I’ll be doing something similar, I just don’t need the sleeping platform. Just better gear storage for batteries, fridge, and all the other cool guy camping gear I’ve acquired over the years.

To answer the question now that I got the cap installed. No you can not, at least on the side rail holes. The cab side you can.
