Hello all, just a question. Does anyone remember a post where someone used house door hinges to support the JT doors when removed ?

Thanks!

Don’t know about that but I built the way- a -life door hanger setup. Buying regular length 2x4’s and cutting them down was cheaper than buying the precut pieces he references. All depends on what tools you have access to. I built 2 of them for less than $20 and they work great.

Be careful with project lumber or things supposedly cut to 24 or 36". They may be 35.5 or 37 as I bought a couple of weeks ago for a project for my wife.
I mean his tip is great if you are hauling things in a small vehicle and don't have a saw at home (doesn't anyone know how to use an old-fashioned saw? Don't need a circular saw) but do measure if you buy such pieces.
I prefer one long piece because as I've also seen over the years - those 2x4s may actually be not quite or even larger than 3.5 and 1.5 inches. That has caused me trouble in the past when using my dado blade to notch exactly half-way into a 2x4 - hmm, they don't sit flush, well, one was 1.6" and another was a bit under 1.5"

I like his idea- I had thought "why not eye bolts? All you need is for them to have holes large enough for the hinge pins to go through.

His video is good enough I think anyone could make his project. He covers things very well. He's not skimping on strength.

That's exactly what he did in the video - and even showed exactly how to space things, mount it and more.
