Can the dual top group be ordered with the body colored roof? The online configurator lets me choose it but I know it’s not 100% accurate all the time. It also adds the full $2,595 instead of the $1,000 difference between the black hard top and the body colored hard top which is odd.

What colors tend to look best with the body colored roof? Planning on getting Gobi and haven’t decided what top configuration I like best. I know it’s personal preference but am curious what opinions are out there

Yes the dual top can be ordered with the painted hardtop, you are paying for both tops plus the paint which is why it is ~$1000 more than the dual top group.

Everyone has different preferences. Personally, I wasn't a fan of Gladiators when I first saw them. I had owned 6 Wranglers in the previous 25 years or so and absolutely loved them. When the Mojave was announced I thought I'd give the JT another chance. I was able to figure out what it was that I didn't like about the look of the JT and it was because most I had seen on the road at that point had either soft tops or the black hard top. From the side, the 10-12" or so of black behind the rear doors looked out of place on almost every JT I saw. It wasn't until I started seeing JTs with the body color top that things looked right in my mind.

On the JKU I owned, or the JLs, I prefer the black top to the body color ones. A foot or so of black behind the doors (to me) looks funny. A few feet on a Wrangler looks good. Again, a personal preference and I'm sure some people might think my preference is weird, but that is the beauty of these things. You can customize them to almost any configuration you can think of.

Getting back to your question about which colors look best with the colored top... I think all of them look better with the colored hard top. I would have loved to have gotten Gobi when I ordered my Mojave last July. Gator would have been my #2 choice but that wasn't available either. My JKU was Hydro Blue and as I wasn't a big fan of any of the other colors so I stuck with Hydro Blue.

Have you looked at the Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop? I had one on my JKU and loved it. As soon as spring hits here in Michigan I'll be getting one for my JT. To me it gives you the best of both worlds. The security of a hard top and the quick flip back access of a soft top. Plus I have a kayak carrier that utilizes the drip rails on the hard top so for me it's a win-win-win.

LOVE my Sunrider top. Much easier than the 'Freedom Panels' if one gets caught in the rain, driving somewhere. Just pull over and pull the top over and latch it, and on your way again...easy peezy. Plus, when running errands, just pull it over when you get to the store, do your shopping, and open it up again without having to stow the large panels somewheres all the time.

I have the body-colored top, but run my Sunrider top in the warmer months and then put the panels back in once the dead of Winter sets in. Sunrider is 10X easier than taking the panels out.

That's all great feedback, thanks everyone

I want to get the hard top, but I've never had a jeep so am interested in the dual top group so I can have the soft top too. I figure if I don't like it, then I'll just sell the soft top.

Likely the sunrider is the best compromise though since I probably won’t switch tops as often as I think I will, but we’ll see. Won’t be ordering for a month or two so lots of time to think about it.
