So the DRL LED’s (on the fenders) are white. Peronally ai dont understand this considering the HALO rings are already also white. I also dont understand nor can find documentation on how and when these lights turn on or off etc. for example I have noticed just thanks to reflections from a window that the halos seem to be on when the engine is running (but not always) and that the DRL on the fenders are on when in a gear but off when placed in park.

Either way I personally do not like the white on the fenders. To me that should be amber color parking lights like when the turn signal is on. Is there an aftermarket strip or way to make the white lights ambwr instead? It seems awful pointless to me to have white strip lights there when the HALO rings are already white themselves.

I figure it would need a aftermarket light strip but was curious if there was another way or option As I dont know of any amber lights in the aftermarket sector.

The fender DRL is the actual DRL for the vehicle. During the day the DRL turns off when the turn signals are activated. At night the DRL is always on; regardless if the turn signals or parking break is on. When parked, the fender DRL’s will remain on, unless the parking break is applied in which case they turn off during daytime. The halo’s around the headlights are not true DRL’s but are actually “signature lighting” elements; they’re not bright enough to actually be considered DRL’s and are always on while the ignition is in the “RUN/ON” position. As far as amber goes I agree. That’s one thing I loved about my challenger, was the inner ring was amber DRL which made it stand out even more. The only real solution for your stock housing would be to apply an amber film over the housing (like what people do with yellow film on fog lights). I have yet to see an aftermarket amber light setup for JL/JT.

that explains things well and is sorta what i thought. Thank you. Maybe it would be easier to change the halo color instead. Kinda a bummer.

Oracle offers color changing halo light inserts. You would just have to be comfortable pulling the lens off the front to install then affixing it back when done.

yeah I saw that a while back and they do offer some cool options. Not sure thats something i want to do to be honest though. And its really only the DRL’s that kinda bugg me. Wish they were amber. Lol. But i see why they are white. Besides if the headlights were on to serve as a DRL then youd never see the halo.

I used the lamin-x Film on mine. Got it from Amazon in a universal sheet and cut to fit.
It’s really thick , a lot thicker than a window tint . Sticky as hell . Better get it on right the first time or you will need to recut another piece.
I like the look and think it will last awhile.
looked everywhere for a lens replacement but don’t think they exist.

You can change the DRL setting in the computer to Turn Signal (amber) using the JScan set up. I ran my Wrangler like that for a while. Screen shot of DRL options in JScan app.

Link please? Or what size did you use and did you do any wrap around of the lens or just across the front?
Appreciate it. Yours looks very good.

https://lamin-x.com/automobile-products

they sell it on Amazon also. About the same price but with prime I saved the shipping

Got the big sheet. Cut down close to size then slowly trimmed it to fit. It’s like tint film, has a backing on it you peel off. I saw in the reviews people said you could manipulate it after putting it on like window tint . Didn’t work for me. Wasted one whole sheet trying. Ended up cutting it as close as possible to size and starting in one corner slowly pressing it on like you would a cellphone screen protector . Then used a razor blade to trim it up a little .
no air bubbles but it is so thick unless it was a huge air pocket you wouldn’t see it.
I like how it turned out. If anything happens to it I will do it again.

I had the choice to wire up my halos as white or amber, and I chose amber. I like the contrast with the white DRLs. All aftermarket stuff though.

Here is a close up of it . I can’t tell it’s not factory other than it’s a little more Amber than the side makers

There are a couple of other options.
1 - You can put Amber LEDs in place of the DRL and turn signal by swapping the bulbs for compatible LEDs. I used these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RNCBD72/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00

2 - if you have JScan you can switch the DRL to "Canadian" which uses the fog lights for DRL (or change the DRL location manually as suggested above)
