In the interest of information, even when nobody asked, I thought I would relate my experience of installing these Smittybilt seat covers into my Overland. First off, the bottom seat covers went on in minutes, fit like a glove, were easy to secure and look great. And the quality almost matched my cloth interior seat covers one for one. The problem I had was trying to secure the front side of the upright seat covers to their rear side. The covers have flaps on the front and back, that are supposed to go through the gap between the bottom seat and the upper, meet on the back side, and then are held together with Velcro. This is what pulls the seat cover tight over the back and keeps it in place. I will say, that was a hassle. It took me almost an hour to get the left and right seat back covers on and secured. And the flaps just barely met, which caused some problems when moving the back of the seat forward and back; as the upper seat back moved, it would catch the tape and pull it apart. So, in the interest of brevity (yeah right, shot that idea already), I will list my thoughts and recommendations for anyone who may want to do this in the future.

1. I contacted Smittybilt about this, they couldn't have been more helpful. Tech Support and I were on the phone together for over an hour trying to figure out where the issue for fitment occurred. They were the first to admit, it may be that their R&D may have to re-look at the seats and seat covers in case there may have to be a modification to make them easier to install. Actually, just about two inches more of material on the front flap, would make all the difference. They asked for a detailed email on what I had to do to get them installed.

2. If you can avoid it, do not do this on a cold day. It does recommend that it be at least 60F, and allow them to sit in the sun, not unlike putting on the soft top. Unfortunately, where I live in upstate NY, we won't see these temperatures until June, and I wanted to get them on ASAP. The day I installed them was 35F. I did put them in the drier on medium low for about 20 minutes, and ran the truck with full heater, and seat heat on, but after an hour of playing with them, any benefit from putting them into the drier was wasted.

3. Easier with a 2nd person. Probably could have done it in half the time. My wife came out for 5 minutes, said it was to cold, wished me luck and went to the casino.

4. They have been installed about 4 weeks now, really look great, and now that they have stretched out some, they really conform to the seats. Haven't had any issue with slipping, or having to re-secure. But will probably do so once the weather heats up.

5. Bottom line is after having many covers on many jeep's, these are as good as any I have purchased, and some, for much more than I paid for these, particularly since the cost included 7 MOLLE bags.

Do they make them for rear seats?

I have been getting reading to pull plug on full set of Bartacts...because I need covers for fronts and rear seats.

Ok. I'm in automotive engineering and these instructions aren't with the paper they are printed on. Once I did figure out how to get in installed it looked nice, but guess what happens if you tilt the seat back? The Velcro that is already minimal at best, comes undone. Fail.

It looks like Smittybilt has the same part number for the Gladiator rear seat covers and the JLU rear seat covers. Others have said they're not the same seats...did the covers you got for the rear fit?

I had only purchased the front. After my experience with that, I am to reluctant to try the back, even though the front did fit, for the most part.

Was about to start a new thread but found this one and figured resurrecting it would make more sense. I received my G.E.A.R. seat covers today. I had hopes that they had worked out kinks in these (and the accompanying "instructions") over the last 2 years, but it doesn't look like they have.

These were from Extreme Terrain and the site says they come with 7 molle pouches.

Some reviews say they got shorted the pouches and others say that they got theirs. Well, my order was shorted. Called Extreme Terrain and they said they would be in touch about shipping the pouches. I'll update as to whether or not they make good on them.

Here are my thoughts after installing them on an 85 degree day. The instructions are very generic and try to cover every Smittybilt product made. But there was enough that roughly pertained to the covers I have to at least have an idea of what order to do things in. I laid them on the tonneau cover to warm up for a few hours, and they slipped on pretty easily. The lower part of the seat was an extreme (ter) pain and trying to connect the elastic bands under there was the least fun thing I'll do all week, barring something truly tragic. There absolutely have to be better methods of tightening the sides up. Hell, I can think of a few. A strap with a buckle, for starters, such as the ones that come on them to tighten them front to back. I eventually got them all, but not without some choice words and bleeding from my hands.

They look pretty sharp, and would look even better if they'd come with the pouches. Not wild about Smittybilt being branded on the front and back of them, but it's not too obnoxious.

The fit could be better. I'm hoping I can keep tightening them up for a while and improve it. They look better than they feel; there's a big pocket of air between the seat backs.

Finally, they are just wide enough on the sides that they interfere with the seat belt on the passenger side. Not a deal breaker, but shutting the seat belt tongue in the door just got a little more likely.

I should also point out that Extreme Terrain's website says 10 minutes to install. That's madness. The headrests take 10 minutes. No man alive could install these in 10 minutes if they practiced daily for years. Maybe with someone helping with very long skinny arms you could do it in under an hour; if you have any friends who are built like Manute Bol. Not a knock on the product, but E.T. is way off on their estimated install time.

All in all, it wasn't that bad and if I can get them tightened up and E.T. sends the molle pouches I'll give them 4 out of 5 stars. The seat belt fit issue is only pronounced on the passenger side for some reason and hopefully with some tightening I can alleviate this. I am excited to get some molle pouches and get some gear off of (and under) my backseat. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps someone down the road.
