UPDATE:
Covered under warranty! Now have a complete new rear axle installed. As suspected, the rear locker was not fully engaging or even disengaging. Diff oil showed signs of severe overheating and notable metal in suspension.
Took much longer than I hoped. Several weeks for the parts to...
Guess I should post some follow-up FINALLY.
Using this step from Amazon:

It was the largest platform size that still folded down, and was heavy-duty enough for his 160# weight. He can get both front...
Thanks for the pointers. We have a trip coming up in 2 weeks, so hoping I can slip into the dealer and at least get it diagnosed. If they can't take a look that quickly I'll open it up myself. If no metal chunks and nothing obvious for a quick repair it may have to live another 2k miles until it...
Was hoping this was another sign of the common "locker sensor" issue, but no dice. Installed the Z Automotive "fix" and the issue persists.
Vehicle:
2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon
56K miles
Light offroader. Lockers haven't really been used much.
Bone stock drivetrain
35" mud terrains on stock...
Lots of great replies. I’ll follow up on some of the products linked. Didn’t even think about fashioning a step that uses the rock rail. I may play with that idea over the weekend. Our pup is tall enough that with a single largish step, he might climb up fine.
Loading our 150# newf has become a chore. When he DOES get in on his own, it is painful to watch. When we help him up, it is literally painful on my back! There just isn't a lot of room on the floor behind the seat for him the clamber up, and the seat is too high for him to jump. The back door...
Mine recently rolled over 30K miles. It is a 2020 Rubi. Probably the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. Need to wheel it a bit more.
Best mods: Sunrider flip top and the roll-n-lok bed cover.
Minor issues along the way. Need to tilt the driver's seat back a bit. Can get uncomfortable on long...
I guess money isn't an issue....
4-door JK (wife's), Gladiator, 3/4 ton GMC, and a couple of CJ projects.
Now that I think about it, that's where all the money went.
I went super low tech. Plastic cup in the rear floor cup-holder. Dump at each gas stop. When the cup gets gross, it gets replaced.
Also keep a roll of poo bags for the dog handy. Works for larger "trash" items as well. Fill, tie off, and toss at next convenient trash can.
Have a few 30 and...
I have a full-size 2500 series diesel truck. Love it, and it has its purpose. It is well suited for trailering/hauling duties.
As others have posted, the Gladiator has its own perks. Doorless, topless, significantly better 4WD (mine is a Rubi), and still has enough of a truck bed for all the...
That is a Viair of some sort. One of their 100% duty cycle versions. I watched deals a few places, and found this "previous year" kit on Amazon at a deep discount. Included a 5 gallon tank, but I gave up making it fit. Bought this 1/2 gallon, also from Amazon, pretty cheap. Used all of the hoses...
Amazon, I think. Can't remember the vendor. Would have to dig through my account. Price sounds right-ish. Aftermarket with shipping was about the same. For me to piece it together from unistrut and hardware store parts was still $200+. With all the other projects on my list, and needing to get...
Wow. More hate than I would expect here. If we get to shame the big overlanders, do we still get to shame anyone who lifts a Sport? Lots of nits to pick, guess I should post up negative comments more. </eyeroll>
Jeeps are like Legos for adults. You can build pretty much anything you want. We...
I ended up adding factory rails. Looked at after market, but found factory for the same/better cost. Also looked at "rigging" something, but for the cost, it didn't seem to work out (for me).
The weak link appears to be the mounting bolts. Anything that uses the factory nutserts will be the...
Even my daughter has commented that she can feel my Jeep running ('21 Rubi Gladiator) but mom's doesn't do that ('17 JKU). Still smoother than my diesel truck, so I haven't worried about it.
I'll have to check on that recall. Gone are the days where bugs were only on the windshield, not in...
I built a skid/mount for my compressor and tank under the body. Drivers side, beside the muffler, between the exhaust and driveshaft. Mounts to the skid crossmember and then up to a open bolt hole in the frame. My setup only has a very small tank, as it also fits the compressor. With JUST the...
We got the JT specifically for road trips. Does reasonable on the highway, and can still explore the backwoods when we get there. Lots of 4-hour day trips. Longest is 12 from here to Maine. We have done several 6-8 hour trips. Limiting factor is wife and kiddo. I don't mind the drive one bit...
Personally, I mostly leave TC on. Let the computer figure it out. The JT seems better than most at staying predictable. I HATE unpredictable nannies. My wife's old Saturn AWD was the worst. One minute they would override everything you were trying to do, the next they would shut off completely...
As above, I'd start by checking the ground (#1 in the image). Check continuity between the plug #1 on the JT and a known good ground on the JT (like the frame). Also check the same on the trailer (the mirror-image for #1) and a known good ground on the trailer (maybe its frame).
I'd lay odds...
Looks like accessory switches 1 and 2 have a 40 amp fuse. 3 and 4 are 15 amp. You could always run a separate relay and fuse for the lights, controlled by the accessory switch.
If I am reading the fuse box diagram correctly, all exterior lights share a 40 amp fuse. However, as posted above...
