Unfortunately, it’s common practice for some dealerships to make maintenance claims based on mileage alone, never having actually inspected the part. They often assume that if there’s no record in their system of the maintenance being done, it hasn’t been done.
I’m just surprised- I thought that the point of the recall was to inspect for any signs of metal contamination in the fuel system to determine whether it’s just a pump or an entire fuel system that needs replacement. Not sure how that can effectively be done without pulling the fuel filter.
I just got my Jeep back from having the high-pressure fuel pump recall performed. I was shocked to see that the service does not include changing the old filter out. I confirmed with the service advisor that that is not something that is done during the recall. I don’t mind changing the filter...
I’m not surprised to hear that it’s the ECM Harness and not the trans itself.
One of the perks of buying the diesel is that you get a transmission that was built by ZF in Germany and shipped here (complete), as opposed to the gasser that gets a ZF transmission built under license by stellantis...
Did an oil change on a friends 3.6 today. New vehicle, this is the first oil change at 3k. Found these large, non-ferrous strips in the filter. There are 6-8 of them, each roughly 1.5” long and about the thickness of a bbq grill brush strand. I’m used to small particles from break-in, but this...
The only front shocks I’ve been happy with on my JT diesel are the adjustable rancho9000XL at maximum resistance. You’ll probably blow the shock seals on the Mojaves if you run them up front.
Agreed. Best to have your local dealership install the mopar lift just in case, even if it’s easy to install DIY. Stellantis is VERY strict with warranty claims these days. Much worse than FCA was.
Get the warranty. There are known issues with the turbo actuator in hotter climates (more-so with long grades or towing) due to inefficient cooling. The turbo replacement is engine out. Buy an 8yr/125k MOPAR max care (I went through Tom winkels at Hayes Jeep and paid $2700 for an 8/125k with a...
Thanks for taking the time to post this. I’m relieved to know that I’m not the only one who has had issues on that section of road. While that is a long grade, I’m very surprised that an unloaded JTD is unable to maintain speed without detuning. I can’t imagine what it’s like for guys who...
Good choice. I have run the following on my wranglers (and for how many miles). this is them in order from favorite to least, taking into account offroad performance, on-road manners, and how well they wearage
Falken Wildpeak at3w (current, 20k miles)
BFG KO2 (105k miles, 2 sets)
Cooper...
Just an update on my experience with P00AF. Twice in 400 miles I had this code come up (southern NV and central AZ). Both times with about 500lbs payload and not towing, both times pulling long (~3mi) grades at speed (~65mph). Immediate detune, CEL, service traction and throttle warnings. It...
I’m in the same boat as you- been in a wrangler every day for the last ~20 years. Quality and reliability has consistently declined since the Daimler merger. I love the drivability of the JL/JT platform, but reliability is paramount. Stellantis wonders why their sales are plummeting? Time to go...
I’ve had this code pop twice now. Both times coming through the desert with cruise set to 65mph, ambient temps around 90°F. It seems to kick in with prolonged turbo spooling when my oil temp hits 240° (like a long, gradual climb). Both times I was substantially below payload and not towing...
Interesting that it only stipulates to change the diff fluid for "police, taxi, fleet, offroad and trailer-tow" applications. One could argue this verbiage suggests the gear oil is otherwise implied to be a lifetime fluid with no maintenance interval. (There is no such thing as a lifetime fluid...
Did you check the sediment in the fuel filter to see if it was metallic? Algae is commonly mistaken for metal shavings and is very similar in appearance to what you’ve posted.
The pictures you’ve shown are debris outside of your filter, which means it’s coming from the tank end, not the pump end. Pump debris would only be INSIDE your filter element.
