Agreed. I had HUD in my BMW and thats the one thing I miss the most.
But Jeep thinking about off road cameras in the HUD? Meh, I think thats unnecessary.
Only time I put the windshield down is when it makes it easier to work on something, but I haven't been able to on the Gladi because the wipers WILL NOT come off. I've tried everything.
Maybe if I lived someplace with no bugs and where I'm never over 30mph I might leave the windshield down...
Use a radio for comms within your group. What type you use is just going to depend on your group preferences. Don't rely on these for emergency use.
1) What if your truck is disabled or wont power on?
2) You have to be able to accurately relay location information.
3) What if you're...
You sound like my step dad. He was a die hard "Made in USA is the only way!". He tried to show me his made in USA things, and I showed him how they indeed were not made in USA. Assembled maybe, but almost all components were sourced from overseas. He aslo has phone made in China, a computer made...
Received two quotes for 4.88s yesterday;
Shop A) $3800 and 12hrs for Dana
Shop B) $4900 and 16hrs for Revolution
Also, since I'm reading that 12 hours is high for a gear change, it could be for two techs @ 6hrs each. Thats how a lot of construction and contracting jobs are bid, the labor...
Thread derail-
We are going to be in northern NM end of May. Plan is to explore Santa Fe and Carson National Forests and then cross into CO and Rio Grand. Any suggestions for areas to explore or avoid? We try to keep off the pavement as much as possible.
Interesting.
Looks like it was first offered in 2021? At least in the US. It also looks like it was a fairly obscure option because most people didn't know about it. When shopping everything I found pointed to it wasn't available until 2024, and the diesel was no longer an option in 2024 so I...
I've been thinking of building something similar, or just buying one from HF that fits in my hydraulic press. The HF one can only do 12", but I can't think of any time I needed to do anything longer than that.
On-the-fly 4x4 engagement. Locking hubs require you to stop and get out of the vehicle, a FAD does not.
How would a FAD force spider gears to spin faster?
My local shop can do anything I need, or at least to this point has. Send-Cut-Send can form parts but has some limitations, but not sure what. I usually only send small parts to them like brackets and mounts. I save the larger stuff for the local shop.
I draw up a lot of the things I need in CAD and then send it off to a local shop to cut and form whatever I need. If I need something machined I'll check places like Send-Cut-Send for prices. It's far cheaper than buying it outright, and I can design it the way I want it.
I can answer that...
Rebel flatbed - $9,500
Dirthouse flatbed - $14,500
Nuthouse flatbed - $13,000
Most items from China, half the cost of US prices.
Does quality sometimes suffer? It can, yes, but depending on the product they are the same thing as what US companies sell. More and more US...
Just for reference, this is a Rubi with roughly 3.5 inches of lift on 35's. Theres also plenty of other photos in this thread.

I too was worried about 35's looking...
FAD was removed in 2024, which is also the first year X models were available with 4-Auto. So there is no FAD and 4-Auto combination.
But yes, for those of us with a FAD when you engage 4HI a collar is moved that locks both axle halves together.
I've seen it both ways, but design is the widely used variant and what all CAD software companies will say as well. Technically its computer-aided design and drafting, so really either way is correct.
When I worked in steel manufacturing the only guys that called it drafting were the ones who...
