Thanks! I know I'd enjoy seeing content on your rig. It is a commitment though, I didnt appreciate the extra work it takes to document as you go.
I think I have a better solution for the reservoirs, I'll make sure to post when I figure it out. The liners are good, the hardware package comes...
I have one more video coming out next week that will have all of my last minute modifications including suspension tuning, rear springs, and a custom exhaust. Then, I'm excited to share our EJS experience!
Here are my two latest videos. The first reviews the installation of Rebel's DSS aluminum inner fender liners and some issues I ran into installing them:
The second is a maintenance day with a gear oil change and the installation of a wideband gauge for tuning:
It came down to the the control arm mounting brackets. I like the way the EVO mfg front long arm brackets mount directly to the frame high and tight instead of a crossmember. The rear control arm brackets are relocated to the outside of the frame and high clearance as well.
My last JT had a RK...
Eh, enjoy what ya got!
I started with a Sport S, 6 speed manual transmission, and 33's... didn't take long for the tire envy to start after my first EJS trip.
If you see King Kong out and about come say hi! Hope to get to meet some forum members out there
Well, I hope you make it! We're making the trip from MN and I've had great experience talking with vendors in person. Thrashing to get the King Kong project as close to "done" for the trip as well.
Here's the latest update: rear fender liners, bump stops, locker wiring, and brake lines getting installed and cleaned up. Next up, the front liners, exhaust, and a final tune.
Tough story. That's not the offroad/car/jeep community that I believe makes up the majority, and that's unfortunate.
I still think that while EJS is HUGE, the trails run by RR4W during the event are pretty well organized and provide appropriate safety guidelines. I haven't run into any issues...
This bumper looks great. I've been looking very seriously at the "comp" cut options from both artec and motobilt. Both seem solid and super high clearance. My hesitance has been cutting sheet metal. I'm not afraid to make some modifications, clearly, but I always worry about salt and rust living...
I should clarify I think they are ok to run the way you have them, but clearance wise, moving them 180 and back will give you more room/more secure mounting
I don't have a great close up but here's a screen shot from the video linked in my original post.
I just finished installing inner fender liners. That video will show how the reservoirs are mounted as well. I had to do a little tweaking to make everything clear.
I dont like the way yours are...
I chose the tons and ratio. 4.88 because it keeps me just under 2k rpm at 70 mph. The 448 makes more than enough torque to pull our camper and cruise cross country in 8th. Any more rpm and I'm sucking more gas, louder, and no real benefit. I considered a 4.56, but that ratio doesn't exist for...
It's taking serious investigating to find out how this truck was built. Early build, like late 2019. So, I'm pretty sure I have a 12" travel King 2.5 front and 10" travel King 2.5 rear. I'm not sure the rational for the shorter rear, maybe up travel?
