I was trying to get kayaks on my bed rack and one of the plastic fixtures was stronger than my canvas. Didn’t realize as I was pushing it from the back the soft top was higher than my bed rack… I’m heartbroken. gorilla tape is on order until I can afford a replacement…

Thanks, yeah was going to. The swagman rack is in the dining room. I’ll test it out this weekend.

The bikes are 82" long, most where shorter than that. If the Swagman doesn't work I'll go back to the roof.

I guess at this rate, maybe I can just make something out of unistrut that goes on the A frame over the propane tank. Only issue then is I need longer propane hoses for my griddle. :LOL:

Oh lol, that's the one that had the complaints. I guess my setup will only be exposed to the weather for these types of trips.

@Jobofly have a link for the rear tire strap? I have the front fork adapter that was posted by @Camaroboi13 but the rear tire strap they sell had reviews that said the velcro sucked. I'm trying to do this but up on my bed rack with some extra work.

Bed will have weather sensitive gear. Can't depend on having the softopper open in case it's raining.

The bikes I got are long as well. I'm prepared for them to hang over the bed rack, but It'd be nice to find one that supports a longer bike too. 82" probably with the tire installed.

TL:DR - Is making a DIY bike rack on my bed rack a dangerous idea or do people do it all the time? Or am I making more work for myself when a reasonably priced commercial option is available? So apologies if anybody saw my brain wracking on the Gladiator Camping FB group, but figured I'd check...

Softopper to protect, wish I had a hard cap with a gas strut hinge for the back window. Wooden deck with drawers that I've been putzing with. I think I want to replace them with 8020 extruded aluminum stuff one day when I'm rich... never... I don't like any of the commercially available options...
