The more I read these threads the more confused I get. There have been several. I’d like someone to delineate the systems available in the reddit style of “explain it like I’m 5”. Last real Jeep I had was a 74 C5 that just went everywhere I pointed it.
We had one in Abilene for 24 hrs. Just long enough for me to have a look at it out of detail shop before the new owner took it away. Geography might be a factor. No need for a gladiator in Chicagoland.
In the real world the diesel will tow more, unless you think towing up a hill at 45mph while your engine is redlining is normal. It will cost more. It will have higher maintenance costs. Diesel is found everywhere. I driven one for the last 10 years. Never had a time when I couldn’t...
The max tow that has been published for the gas engine isn’t realistic, as described by TFL in a previous thread. It will be legal to do it but the engine will struggle and underperform to make it happen. Those wanting to haul 6k realistically will have to wait for the diesel.
I know the diesel will tow less than the gas engine by about 600 #. Just guessing that at the diesels max tow it will kick the crap out of the gasser at the same weight. Am I wrong?
