If you're not planning hard core rock crawling the TracLoc limited slip in Willys is fine. Even less chance of axle breakage. Though it won't last long with 37s before wearing out.
My Willys was only $47k vs 55 so unsure what other options.
My other Jeep is a hard core rock crawler with...
My experience not knowing or hearing about this "feature" was backing a boat down the ramp, got out to help offload and started to pull fwd or try to with the door open.
Nothing happened and I got the Park Mode engaged message on dash. Following instructions did nothing because I never put seat...
I too added a horse stall rubber mat to my painted bed. I intend to use the bed and mats save dings and was $49 not $500. I put a rubber mat screwed onto the tailgate too because why not? If I ever sell the truck is the next buyer going to say "We would have had a deal but a screwed in tailgate...
Are you trading in a vehicle? If so you should factor in that Texas gives you a sales tax break equal to the value of traded vehicle because you already paid tax on it. Can save $$ vs out of state buy.
We have a Willys that's pretty stock except for a bed rack so not too much extra weight. No tonneau, aftermarket bumpers or winches. Stock mud tires at 41-43 psi.
SWMBO has kind of a lead foot and does the town driving primarily so average is about 16.5-17.
On trips with cruise at 65-70 mpg...
The way to avoid the issue is to order the Mopar 4.88s and have dealer install so they are warranted. Mopar covers factory options installed by the dealer like the 2" lift for instance.
I just watched a video of the TFL guy buying a pretty base Willys Sport JL. He sprang for Red paint and AC but nothing else. He's going to off-road it but wanted to keep weight down with all those doodads adding dead weight.
I'd buy a base Gladiator.
I did Hot Springs in a 16 Cherokee Trailhawk with 2.5" lift on 31.5" tires. Snake Trail rubbed the rock rails a tiny bit but with Willys' 32s and overall greater ground clearance you should be ok.
The toughest trail (I forgot the name but it's badged) was much harder and we didn't get past 1/4.
Bikini Offroad, my local Jeep shop in San Antonio does complete regearing all day long for $1750 which includes a follow up check and diff oil change after 500 miles. Sometimes they have a sale $100 off. And their labor rate is close to dealers at $120/hr.
Stealerships just steal your money and...
One additional thing about brake controllers - towing in mountains sometimes the trailer "pushes" and attempts to overtake the vehicle. This can lead to more and more sway. You can often engage the trailer brakes alone to stop the action with a touch of a button making it safer to then apply the...
I see no reason to fork over $500-1200+ for something so simple. It's profiteering by the companies because they figure they can get away with it. ;)
I like your mount keeping the tonneau cover. I don't have one but figured if I did I would have to redesign the rack. Now I know I just need to...
Our GC Willys. My wife traded her beloved and heavily modded 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk and loved the Willys' blacked out look so we're sticking with the theme.
Mods so far include:
Heritage JEEP tailgate logo (nod to the 60s J-10 Gladiator)
Dead pedal for left leg comfort
Horse stall mats in the...
