Payload capacity is calculated with one 150lb driver who isn't wet most likely. Add Bedmat or Line-X (20lbs) Cargo rails (25lbs) Hard top (150 lbs) Floor Mats (5 lbs) Rock rails (25 lbs)
My 240 lbs costs 90 lbs of payload. So with my wife (I won't say ?) we went from 1600 to 1045 lbs payload. Oh...
I’ve done some reading on 6061 structural strength and believe you only need a 1.5x factor over steel for equivalent strength as a winch plate. Build your bumper with 3/8” plate for the winch mount portion bolted to frame horns (versus std steel 1/4” winch plates) integrated with your bumper and...

Me!
A 2 Dr JT with an extra cab fold down jump seats facing inward would be my choice as ideal backup for when you pickup a short term hiker etc and want to stay legal.
Thanks I hadn't looked at the specs on the bolt on Class III but 5000 should be more than the Jeep can tow without the Max Tow accessories. I'm sure it will be safe. The base frame mount is every bit as stout as the Class IV hitch only lacking the welds vs bolts.
If UHAUL installs a Class III (5000lbs) 2" receiver and you have the automatic transmission (manual has less tow capacity) then 4500 on a Willy's Sport will be the max. That 1000lb difference may be useful someday. Class IV is overkill but Mopar available. I believe there is a Class III Mopar...
I dropped in a $50 horse stall rubber mat cut to fit with a jigsaw and a $50 DeeZee tailgate rubber mat. It's not 100% coverage but it's a truck so I will just use it. I've had Line-X before and it was great but more expensive. I've had plastic drop ins that were great for years. Get what's...
I decided overland racks have gotten too steep. I just wanted a bed rack to carry a kayak, and maybe mount an RTT in the future. Needed to be strong enough to handle 500 lbs (tent + 2 adults).
I used 1.25" O.D. tube .120 wall and 3" flat stock .125" thick. I used interlocking tube clamps like in...
KO2s are highly rated, but I had Duratracs on my Cherokee and they were very good off-road and wore well giving me over 50,000 miles. I'd buy them again and they're not too heavy.
I just realized your Rubicon would only have the 4500 lb limit without the tow package if it was a manual transmission, with auto the Rubi does hit 7k. Sorry I've had so many figures off that chart in my head I needed to read it again before speaking. My fault.
Cheers
If starting with no tow package, you have the ability to tow 2000lbs with a ball in bumper that goes into the frame mounted hitch.
Without a tow package you can add the Class III receiver add-on and weight distribution hitch to tow 3500 lbs.
Replacing the stock bumper mount with the Class IV...
It was eBay seller limitlessparts1 and here is a link to my completed auction but they don't seem to have any active similar auctions. Message them and ask.
It wasn't difficult to cover the locator holes, I used masking tape to arrange placement and made slight adjustment until I was satisfied...
Got the Heritage Jeep logo from eBay, nice 1/8" thick acrylic letters with 3M adhesive. I played with spacing while masking taped in place until I got it right, then marked placement and peeled backing.
Changed out the tailgate logo to a heritage Jeep J-10 type. Started working on the bed rack. Finished the Unistrut cargo rails which I need to mount the rack ;)
