They're d rated falken wild peak RT's. When towing I have them around 40-42 in the back to up their stiffness. Didn't notice any tire squirm like I did when I had 34.5 pmetric tires on my ram 1500.
It's stiffer but I definitely don't find it rough since the first stage is really close to stock rate. I found the stock Rubicon suspension to be rollypolly so the swap to Clayton and fox 2.0s stiffened it some but also took the bounce and jutter out providing an overall better day to day feel.
Yes, the Clayton's are a triple rate with a higher spring rate of 159 for stage 1, 280 for stage 2 and 360 for stage 3. The 3 stages really help with heavy loads and limit squat very well. I carried 1600 pounds of tile on a very short drive home with 700 pounds of people in the car and still had...
Are you on teco or Duke? Teco is much much better rates than Duke who has basically doubled my rate in 10 years. I used to pay 350-400 summer and 150ish winter.
The house isn't helping in that the previous owners replaced a stone tile roof with shingles so the amount of heat that makes its way...
In 12 years all these cars will be about 10k and any major malfunction will basically send them to the scrap heap or an engine swap.
It's also crazy to think that the current dealer price of a battery replacement is what it will always be at. Other phevs all come down to around 2k for a reman...
My wife describes me as shamu flopping under the car after I cover myself in oil from missing the bucket.
Although now with the jt I can just use a 5 gallon bucket and avoid the mess.
Dry weight is 3838 according to the manufacturers sticker. The 2023 and 2024 NB's are about 3-400 pounds heavier than the 2022's which was also a factor I considered when we decided to look for used vs new.
They switched the suspension to a cool independent coil spring with shock suspension...
I'm not convinced you get the 4xe and how it works or what it's real purpose is. Think Prius in that you don't have to charge it, it charges itself off brakes and engine. If you want to charge it, you can but you can run it it's whole life with out and still get the full HP/tq out of it...
It's a hybrid with an 8 year warranty on the battery not a pure ev. Even degraded capacity the battery will still hold more than enough charge to give you the HP and tq numbers until the battery actually fully dies which is more like 12-15 years if we go by current tech life span. The 4xe also...
I've heard the 2024s come with a payload detector, if you are over by a pound it goes limp mode and announces the vehicle you are driving is too fat, please pull over.
There is a reason in Europe the tow ratings are huge vs ours. Most of it just comes down to the towing speed limit on Europe is quite low so they can tow more cause they just go slower.
Euro wrangler is 5k pounds, American wrangler 3.5k for example.
I ended up selling the Aliner as it was the expedition so it's big for 1 or 2 people but small for a family of 4 and a standard poodle. I do love the Aliner though, and anyone with no kids should really look in to them. Plenty of space for 1 or 2 people and everything you need inside, while...
This year we are going to TN for the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion, next year we are thinking about trying to get to Texas. The problem with living in Florida is it's already a haul just getting to Georgia or Alabama so farther trips take a good bit of time.
Eventually we'd like to get out west...
I liked the 19.3 a lot but the wife wanted a slide. We have a lot of trips planned this year with it so I'll be trying to post up more often about the different places we go.
Depends on where you are towing, how far you are towing, and how much payload you are using up on people and other stuff.
80% is considered a good number which is 5600lbs on the Rubicon. If you are towing lots of mountains less is probably recommended, if you are in relatively flat only you can...
Yeah, my goal was to stay in the 5k gvwr range as we plan on taking this up to TN and around that area as well so I wanted to stay well below my max. If I was just staying around here in Florida I could have probably gone closer to 6k but this camper has more than enough space for the kids...
No, I'm on 38s with a 2.5 inch Clayton lift and 5.13s. around town I actually did fine, it was the high winds highway speeds (55-65mph) that really just made it feel a little less adequate. Never unsafe, but it was definitely working against that headwind.
I'm running the aluminum weigh safe with a 6 inch drop for 38s, a 2.5 Clayton lift, and a relatively low Aliner expedition in the 25-2600lb range. I really liked the weigh safe since I could adjust the cargo to get it to a good tongue weight based on tanks, coolers, food and other stuff that...
