So i figured i would let some pros handle this, but a mechanic and a couple of recommended body shop guys couldn't get it. I got some different bolt extractors (not the easy out variety) and started drilling.
Good news is, i got the bolt head out in about 20 min. Bad news, i drilled a bit too...
Well, i screwed up. Installing door hinge steps and got 7 of the 8 out no problems. The last one stripped unbelievably badly. I tried to drill it with an extractor, but that isn't working and now i just have a mess. Any ideas on what to do next?
I don't think you'll be disappointed. Its honestly my favorite mod so far, and I even based my rack purchase on being able to keep its full functionality.
Just a reflection. I've had no rubbing with it in two years. Only "issue" is that the trail rail doesnt allow it to snap into the bed by the cab, so its velcroed there. No big deal really, but snaps would have been the better option.
I also no longer velcro over the tailgate. Havent had any...
Put the Gobi rack on yesterday. Ladders won't fit with the softopper, but I knew that would probably be the case going in.
Now to put the tent on... Really wish i had a taller garage.
Going on two years with the softopper. I love it so much that I'm buying an overpriced rack to go over the cab so I can still utilize the topper fully.
I've never had leaks. I chose it over bestop bc you can fold it down without having to store the side pieces.
Also, nobody around me has one...
was in the same situation. I went as far as purchasing a gutter mount crossbar system after speaking with the manufacturer, once I got it on the jeep, I knew there was no way I was putting my tent up there. I bit the bullet and ordered a Gobi. In the mean time, I made a super strut crossbar...
Passenger door pin is most likely bent. I still cant unlock doors from passenger interior, and have intermittent loss of blind spot monitoring. I have a pin that is shoved totally inside the connector and broken.
Just bought the original finish, and the first thing i thought of was "these would be great in a matte finish." Would have absolutely paid the extra $30 before hand, but not worth the trouble of trying to get out of the originals after the fact.
Love the product tho, one of my favorite...
Ordered a Gobi rack this week, and getting ready for a long wait. In the meantime, I want to mount a couple unistrut crossbars to the factory trail rail, and throw the tent on those.
Anybody have a good way to mount the brackets for the unistrut to the factory trail rails?
