You found the fine print that left me uncovered in Edit 2. Jeep themselves never claimed to have a two year warranty. The Mopar parts warranty that you quoted initially is the only place it is stated. That said, I don't understand why Jeep wouldn't do this on something that is an upsell...
No because it is road damage. I don't think it was a factory defect, and I wasn't trying to screw them out of a windshield by saying otherwise. I legitimately thought I was covered by a warranty that included road debris damage. Ultimately I was wrong about the coverage. I wouldn't have...
This has reached a conclusion. DO NOT BUY GORILLA GLASS AS A FACTORY OPTION if you expect it to be replaced under warranty.
As I finally confirmed with a Jeep Cares case manager:
Mopar (separate entity from Jeep) does not honor the two year warranty if it is factory installed. They only...
Here is a twist. I am now being told that factory installed Gorilla Glass does NOT qualify for the Mopar parts 2 year warranty that includes road debris damage and falls under the Jeep 12mo/12k mile factory defect warranty. If true, there is no reason to pay for the factory upgrade, but I am...
The dealer that is in theory working on mine said they would have a third party come to me to replace it once approved. I was told that dealers that do glass work themselves have to keep certain certifications AND a considerable inventory of replacement glass - windshields and windows...
I was really hoping to post a positive resolution to this by now, but alas....
So after getting a little hope from my follow up on 11/15, radio silence again for the rest of the week.
I stopped by the dealer service department on Monday 11/22 and went straight to the desk of who appeared to be...
05 LJ Rubicon that was my DD before the Gladiator and is now the toy. Road manners limited what I did to it before, but that restriction is gone.
My name is on the title of my son's 00 XJ.
The JT just because
I have had a 13 JKU, 99 XJ, and 90 XJ in the past.
To actually be on topic for a moment (don't hate me), this is exactly what my daughter wants. She had a purple XJ and now wants a purple Wrangler. I actually saw a purple JK and JKU both within a day of each other a couple weeks ago.
I understand that. Over the years I have had a mix of whether you can feel it or not. There is nothing to feel on this one, including at the impact. I am just curious if this is typical for GG.
It was $195 option (at MSRP) to get GG. To me, it seemed like a good bet to avoid replacing a windshield for two years, either from withstanding damage or getting one replacement.
We haven't even gotten to actually getting the replacement, just getting it authorized.
If that is the issue, nothing has been said about it. Based on the what I've been told, I doubt they have a clue about availability.
This whole thing boils down to poor communication and customer service...
There is most definitely a warranty on Gorilla Glass. There is some discretion about coverage, but I have been led to believe it isn't a dealer level decision. That approval is what I am supposedly waiting on.
My read on the warranty limitations is that "typical" windshield damage is what is...
I get that. I don't think it was ordered though. The warranty claim hasn't been approved yet is how it has been explained to me. Even if it is in the Parts Department now, they won't install it.
That's how it should be. This is not a complicated issue. If I was just getting it replaced out of pocket, I would have had it done before my initial service appointment.
As the owner of several Jeeps and many more Jeep windshields over the years, I jumped at the opportunity to get a Gorilla Glass windshield for my Gladiator. I did not expect to have to replace it less than a month after taking delivery, but things happen. If you aren't familiar, the GG...
