  1. 4xe Gladiator Hybrid (PHEV) Confirmed by Jeep CEO for 2025! ⚡️

PHEVs are selling because to most people there is no down side. sure they are heavier and more complex. But most people don't know anything about that. And Japanese manufacturers have proven over 25+ years of hybrid production that reliability isn't a problem. The pitch is very simple and...
  2. 4xe Gladiator Hybrid (PHEV) Confirmed by Jeep CEO for 2025! ⚡️

Regulation absolutely brought about fuel injection and computer controlled engines (as well as chassis) Fuel economy and emissions regulations made it all but mandatory. The European makers adopted injection as early as the late 60s and were able to continue to make more power with their...
  3. Best oil drain pan for me?? Best filter??

Yup. Super easy. I used to just drive the front tires up onto a foot long piece of 2x8 just to get a bit more height. But since I put 35s on it, I don't even need that. Ha.
  4. Best oil drain pan for me?? Best filter??

Interesting. It even looks like it has a short nipple on it for a hose. If I had a skid plate, that would be perfect.
  5. rear seat belps ripped

I hate to say thing, but that's what it looks like to me. The idea that they would both just fail 100% at exactly the same time with no partial failure found is pretty unlikely. I am not in any way saying that you participated in or knew about this. But for both belts to just separate at the...

Its crazy. I just replaced my mountain bike. It was $5500!!! But oh man is it plush!!
  7. Best oil drain pan for me?? Best filter??

I should have clarified. I've always used the one with the hose nipple and want to continue to drain that way. I like draining into a bottle. The Fumoto with the nipple is LOOONNG,. This is the Femco on my Jeep. To start the flow you attach a fitting with a hose on it.
  8. Sunrider removal for the winter

This is interesting. I've owned a twill topped convertible of some sort for 40 years and have never once waterproofed any of them and never had leaks.
  9. Sunrider removal for the winter

If you have the twill top, even if it stretches a bit, the first time it gets wet and then dries in the sun it will shrink back up.
  10. Sunrider removal for the winter

I'm in the Northeast and take it off for 2 reasons. 1)Its cold in the winter and won't get much opportunity to use it. 2) it saves wear and tear on the sunrider 3)Winter means ski season. Ski season means highway travel. The freedom panels are noticeably quieter than the sunder. With that...
  11. Best oil drain pan for me?? Best filter??

The only down side to the Fumoto is how far it sticks out on a Jeep. I've used Fumoto Valves for decades. This is the first vehicle I haven't put it on because it's vulnerable off road. Femco has a decades long rep similar to Fumoto and this new brand referenced above looks good. I'm...
  12. Insulating a SmartCap?

Just as an update to this. I never insulated the roof. I was doing it mostly to reduce interior heat from the sun. I applied a white wrap to the top panel of the topper before I assembled it. This was cheap (about $100) and quick (about an hour) so I thought I'd try this first. It's worked...
  13. Long road trips with JT

Jeep fanboys will tell you that it's great. Or how much better it is than their YJ. But the reality is that as a travel vehicle, the Gladiator is pretty much at the bottom of the pile compared to modern cars and trucks. its not terribly roomy, the ride ranges from terrible to not great...
  14. New shoes! 37s on my Mojave

I have a stock Mojave with 4.10 gears and Xtreme Recon take offs with 35s. When I'm in CT (flat)I just leave it in Drive. When I get into NH and get into moderate hills, I put it in manual mode and just leave it in 7th. It's only turning 2500 rpm vs about 2050 in 8th. At 2500 rpm I can...
  15. Best oil drain pan for me?? Best filter??

Hmm. I really like my Femco. It's VERY low profile. But the Valvomax drain bag is brilliant. I may need to pick up a couple of them and adapt the output hose of the Femco to work with that.
  16. Hmm, this is an interesting solution. No More Dry Starts

I had a pressure accumulator on my airplane engine. Think of it this way. The valve is open while the engine is running and oil pressure has pressurized something like a tiny scuba tank with a bladder in the middle like a surge tank in your home. Before shutting off the engine you close the...
  17. What's everyone doing with their spare tire?

I put 35s on my Gladiator. I had a cheap ($80) new Kinda 35" tire put on my original steel spare wheel. It fits right in the factory location, so that's where it is. Spare matches the rest of the tires as far as size, though it's a different brand. As far as not changing sizes to avoid...

To the OP. The problems you list with the Gladiator as far as price and needless STUPID complexity unfortunately afflicts all modern vehicles. Nowhere in your description of your two older vehicles did you ever say the word "RUST". If you don't have rust problems, it is probably cheaper and...
  19. Loving select-trac!

I love my SelecTrac. I had it on this weekend just driving on back roads. It reduces the chance of an inside wheel spinning and then the stability control cutting power. So it's also useful in the city if you might have to punch it at a light to make a left turn before traffic reacts...
  20. How much more comfortable is the Overland?

If you aren't going to go off road or take off the doors or top, then you are definitely better off with a Silverado. They are simply more practical. More room Better ride better fuel economy more power quieter more luxury options better handling more towing capacity in most cases larger bed
