Took a closer look at the spare this morning and the bolts and nuts are stainless steel. So no “rust” but oxidation will occur over time but the whole wheel is aluminum.
They serve only as a visual/decorative feature.
In removing one I did note a mark in the powder coat from the lock side of...
Thanks! The white top was definitely one of the things I was after when looking at the model I wanted. Although, I also think the black top with white fenders looks pretty bad ass too.
Thanks! Yes, they are decorative. Serve no other purpose.
I couldn't say for sure what the finish is. The look and feel like normal bolts one would get from home depot or a hardware store. Its below 30 degrees here but when it warms up, I will inspect them a bit further.
I too was and am...
2023 JT HA:
- Mammoth General Matt Black wheels (17x9 -6 offset)
- Toyo Open Country AT III's 315/70/17 (34.4)
- No Lift
No rubbing anywhere. 1.5" TeraFlex front spacers and 3/4" Daystar rear spacers likely to go on once we warm up around here but all good right now for ON Road driving.
Ride...
Yes, the TeraFlex 1.5" kit is a spacer (2 actually - one is 1" and the other is .50". The rear is also similar style but is mounted under the rear spring vs on top like the front. For now its riding fine, will put those on when I plan to go off road and then next year, actual lift kit with more...
Wheels/Tires arrived and installed!
Took it for a quick ride and no rubbing as expected on road, fairly smooth but bigger tires definitively move it around a bit more. Off road, probably gonna need at least the 1.5 TeraFlew Spacers and 3/4" rear Daystar kit short term. Once it warms up here...
This likely explains why so many people don't notice too much of a difference in fuel mileage and or feel the need to re-gear when moving to a 35" tire. I was dead set on 37's and doing the other stuff until I saw and read about so many people not needing to change much w/35's. Budget conscious...
Thanks!
This was the result. So, looks like pressure is in the same range. I'll probably do as others have noted here (Chalk test and go a little lower than 35 to allow for pressurization on road).
Hey Folks,
Purchased a set of wheels/tires for my 23 JTHA earlier this week, supposed to be here Friday/Saturday from ExtremeTerrain, mounted and balanced. Looking forward to getting them on by wondering what to expect and what pressure to run the tires at.
Toyo's SPECs on the ET site do not...
Wheels/tires ordered:
The tires are 34.4 per site.
Hoping that will be enough of a tire upgrade and visual impact for now until a full 2-2.5" lift can go on later this or next year. Supposed to be delivered Friday (mounted and balanced).
Wheels are -6 offset so hoping they will be fine...
Got some parts today (Tazer, Hood Struts, TeraFlex 1.5 and Daystar 3/4 kits, Hood rock guard). Only got around to installing the Tazer so far. Gotta say, what a PITA to get the wires out until I figured out a pair of needle nose pliers might help.
After that, got to installing it and I think...
Thanks for the info! Yeah, I figured the MPG will improve over time just like with most other vehicles. Changed out the air cleaner to K&N today too and it felt a little less restrictive but could be that it just wasnt as windy as it has been. Had BAK Flips on all trucks previous to this one...
The research for Wheels/Tires continues but I did manage to order a few more things (smallish MODs) from Extreme Terrain.
Also picked up the extension cable for the Tazer from Z-Automotive and a very inexpensive (compared to the Mopar Part) Grille Winch Brush Guard. We'll see how well made it...
