  1. Radio nitpicks

My guess is there is little collaboration between Sirius and the software engineers at FCA. Since the text string for Tom Petty can take so many shapes, it would be hard to know what text to ignore vs. what text is important in getting a positive ID on the artist. If Sirius assigned a serial...
  2. Adaptive Cruise Control/ Forward Collision yes-no

As Tesla has been able to show - even though the tech isn't perfect, it is better than a human as a human "malfunctions" more often than the tech. The number is something like 1 accident per 160k miles, while for Teslas it is 1 accident for every 2.8 million miles on autopilot. So, even if...
  3. ESS - Rate It

It can't be defaulted to off or the EPA gas mileage calculation is changed and FCA loses the ability to advertise a higher MPG. Plus, there are manufacturer incentives for hitting mpg targets.
  4. ESS - Rate It

It doesn't. When I go off-road and shift to 4H I turn it off. I don't think one could classify it as a safety issue as it is no different than not engaging the appropriate 4x4 mode, turning on a diff-locker, or disconnecting the sway bar and having those settings affect something.
  5. ESS - Rate It

Can you give the use case where the vehicle being stopped becomes an issue? Not trying to be a jerk, just asking as maybe I'm missing something. I was running it through my head and if I was at a stop light, had someone approaching from the rear and I didn't think they were going to stop, and...
  6. Trying to make the final decision between two trucks:

I was in your boat and went LE as I preferred the dash and wheels to the standard Rubicon versions. At the time I was getting the trail cam so it wasn't a consideration, but personally I really like it and have used it a number of times both on the trail and pulling into my garage (where there's...
  7. Recall and Stop Sale on Certain 2020 Gladiators For Bad Driveshafts

Its interesting, I have an LE that was made in that date range but does not show up in the VIN search tool. Either the tool isn't accurate based on VIN or maybe the LE's were done via a different process? *Knocks side of head* I've not had any issues so far. I guess odds are it's in the 95% group.
  8. Why do you like or dislike Auto start stop (ESS)?

Automakers get incentives to do it this way from the Environmental Protection Agency. If the vehicle’s stop/start system is nonlatching and automatically turns on whenever you start the car, the EPA’s fuel-economy test results will be calculated only when the system is engaged. But if a...
  9. That evil box behind the mirror

Not in my JT but I've had my Ford Fusion mis-identify a dip in the freeway as an object and it applied brakes and I've had my Cherokee mis-identify a semi driving around a corner in an adjacent lane and apply brakes.
  10. That my friends is a gnat's ass...

After dropping our daughter off for college we went up into the mountains and stayed a night. Having the tent over the tailgate worked great. We had some evening rain so we used the annex and even with the portions of the RCI rack open on the sides of the bed it was dry. There wasn't a ton of...
  11. LEAKING Issues?

Yeah, this is a thing that carries over from the other Jeep models. I've only had it happen after washing the truck so far, but where I live although the rains can be hard they pass through fast, so I don't have to worry too much about it. When there is decent water in the channel of the...
  12. That my friends is a gnat's ass...

I had looked at the iKamper X-Cover and the Skycamp - the price is way up there though. The X-Cover being $3200 + $690 for an annex, after shipping its easily over $4k and the Skycamp is similar. Nice tents, just a lot of scratch. I'd put the Vagabond into a large category of what I think are...
  13. The Big Box Conundrum

I'm 6'4" and the box doesn't bother me. I know for sure the lack of ACC and forward collision would be a bigger annoyance than a few square inches in the upper portion of the windshield. I can't think of a time where I couldn't see something and thought "were it not for that box, I would have...
  14. Why do you like or dislike Auto start stop (ESS)?

They design the system to be restarted more than a normal starter. They have different gearing, brushes, bearings, has an electronic disconnect from the solenoid, and are more aware of cylinder position.
  15. This thing's the bomb!

I have a 15 mile 80mph highway jaunt before I hit town - my LE with 33's gets about 17mpg and when I toss the bed rack and rooftop tent on it goes to 16. I've tried babying it around but getting close to 20 is not possible from what I see. I think its the highway miles at speed that kills me.
  16. That my friends is a gnat's ass...

I'll be heading out next weekend for a night or two and I'll take pictures with the annex on it.
  17. License plate suggestions

My state only allows 6 letters for custom plates, but there are a lot of graphical options as any organization can basically have their own plate. My extra registration money goes to refugee support...
  18. That my friends is a gnat's ass...

Got my RCI rack and Roam tent mounted on the LE. Also got my vanity plates. I was really worried about garage entry and I literally clear my garage door by about an 1/8 inch. If I'm smart and load the bed with the camping stuff first I'll have even more room. I'd ask my wonderful wife to just...
  19. Sirius xm gone. Sos calling

I experienced the missing apps after pulling the fuse (in my case to reboot the vehicle wifi). The next morning after a restart the apps came back. I think it just needs to check in with the mothership and the apps come back or something. As for Guardian - I had to create a ticket with JeepCares...
