If Ford's goal is to win a "powertrain battle" - with off-roaders - with some tunes most people will never get, they've already missed the mark. Then again, that isn't really surprising since it is Ford that we're talking about here
Jeep has three engine options in Wrangler with more torque than anything Ford has too, and Jeep's 4 cylinder turbo is almost identical to Ford's as well. Like I said earlier in this thread, there isn't anything the Bronco does better than Wrangler, and the same would/will be said if Ford...
While I've never off-roaded a stock gladiator sport, having experience with everything from YJ to XJ to JK and even a KJ Liberty, I can confidently say you'll be able to go just about anywhere you want to in a Gladiator with those tires on it. Wouldn't hurt to throw a spacer lift on if you don't...
The 2.7 isnt a base engine though. Its a nearly $3500 option on broncos. If youre spending that much extra id expect it to be a LOT better than the pentastar
You are right, thats my bad for being overly defensive for the solid axle haha. I figure if my 56 year old mother has no issues with the ride on her 2 door JK, then nobody should
Wrangler has two engine options more powerful than anything the Bronco is going to have, and the reliability of the pentastar is worth the trade off of the extra 25 horses the 2.7 ford has. Not to mention, neither vehicle should be looked at for its power output anyways
I guess "cool" is is all subjective, but in my opinion there isn't a single thing the new Bronco does better than a Wrangler.
And if they come out with a Bronco truck, which would be a pickup truck based on an suv based on a pickup truck, Im sure it wouldn't touch Gladiator in capability OR...
"I took it through a car wash, and water leaked in. That's just totally inexcusable."
I'm pretty sure everyone with a soft top Wrangler/Gladiator is specifically told NOT to use a drive through car wash, but the morons at Motortrend couldn't figure that out? What an idiotic criticism
The way that ford priced the bronco doesnt really force Jeep to do anything about their prices. In most cases the bronco already slots in more expensive than a comparable Wrangler
Yeah i dont really see the need for Jeep to "up their game" when it's already making great products. I have no problem with competition, but like I said, Ford is a rival to my favorite brands and im not gonna have any kind of fuzzy feelings for a new product of theirs
Some people love one brand, nothing wrong with that. Ford made it pretty clear that the bronco is a direct shot to the Wrangler, and as a lifelong Jeep/Mopar guy, its pretty easy to feel a strong dislike towards ford
