Agreed, that definitely does not sound normal and should be looked at. Maybe take it to a different dealer, because I am not sure I could trust one that gave that response.
Why take it down? This is good info, and something others may not be aware of that may save them headache if they have the same issue. Didn’t know these were out there and may look at a set.
That looks like it would need to shrink, which in my opinion, is not likely to happen. Personally,if it looked like that a few days after bringing it home, I would have taken it back and asked for it to be replaced.
I know they say that they help with noise reduction. I am curious to see how well they actually do and if it’s a noticeable difference. I was going to sound deaden my floor but this may be a better option.
I wold say they are fine. You can always touch them up to cover any bare spots and prevent rust, but normal road use can cause scratches like what is shown, much less Offroad use. It’s up to you from an aesthetic perspective, but from a structural standpoint, I wouldnt worry about it..
