I think a little engineering (from factory) with a plastic piece that would fill the gap in the yoke once the cable is installed would do the trick of it not re-releasing from the yoke, but in your case, maybe the tension on the line was not set right (not enough tension)that allowed it to pop...
If your JT is equipped with acc switches like mine, but all four are full you can add an accessory switch there, which will make it clean. Just a thought
