Generally agree; forums are a minuscule sample. Yet it seems the issue is bigger when considering itās across the board with the 3.6 (Rams, Promaster, Pacifica, Jeepā¦.). The percentage of recorded issues is now big enough that Stellanits has released a TSB in April 2025.
And, YES, my...
This reminds me of the Chevy 396/402 BB where the factory relieved the bore for valve clearance. It still wasn't as efficient as the same head on a bigger bore due to valve shrouding (?) But every application is different.........
I think the pollution mandates over the past 20 years killed the diesel in non-commercial vehicles. Itās hindering the efficiency and doubled fuel costs. Diesel used to be considered the first byproduct in the refining process. It was dirt cheap.
The āfamousā Cadillac V8-6-4!! More miles in the shop than the highway. Only to be replaced by the 4100 V8, producing a blistering 135hp.
The Oldsmobile Diesel of the period is also noteworthy, when they thought it was smart to take a gas engine and convert it to diesel.
Interesting, I...
I think it is reasonable to assume that in todayās world, many marketing decisions are made based on āclicksā.
Forums are interaction platforms which tend to attract (older) generations - the ones who grew up/older with them. There are many other platforms that younger generations grow up/old...
I was actually considering a Ram Quad Cab H6, but my wife pointed out itās an old farts truck. She refused to sit in one and try it. So we bought the Gladiator. (She has her ways of describing thingsā¦ā¦)š
The Hurricane 6 outperforms the Hemi in the Ram 1500. Yet, the V8 was quickly brought back. It seems to be about more than just performance statistics.
Didnāt know the LS generations are still called SBC. My daily work world ends by 1967.
To my understanding, the general un-reliability of the newer LS engines is pretty much narrowed down to the AFM, just like the Hemi MDS issues. Both engine families offer variants without it. So these issues...
Ok, how many would NOT own/buy a JT if a V8 were the base engine? (I know there are forces in place that will keep this from happeningā¦..)
Like many others here, Iād prefer a V8 in my Gladiator; yet not enough to justify paying for extra fluff likely included by Stellantis. Offer a high torque...
I share your sentiment! We also have a 2025 GMC 2500 with the 6.6 Gas V8. A fantastic power plant without all the AFM hassle. It brings a smile to my wife and myself every time we drive it!
It surely would wake up the JT! Maybe by the time the 3.6 wears outā¦ā¦..
Adding my Rig to the lineup. Wanting an Anvil Jeep for the past 7 years, it finally happened. Bought it 2 months ago and clocked 5k miles to date. Greatly enjoy driving it and absolutely love the colorā¼ļø
Check your factory aluminum wheels - they should have pockets on the backside, between the lug holes, allowing to clear a slightly protruding wheel stud.
That way, you may be able to get away with a 1ā to 1-1/4ā wheel spacer. (At least that was the case on my 2023 JL).
I would be careful with...
A bit over 30 years ago, I owned a 27L RR Meteor (Tank Version) in a crate. It came out of a surplus sale from the Austrian Military. It made it into a vintage speed boat after I sold it here in FLA. Vividly recall - each valve cover had 52 bolts!
ā¦ā¦ā¦So, I guess a 5.7 Hemi, non MDS, 350hp/450lbft, 20mpg option will not be in the cards anytime soonā¦ā¦š¤£
Iāll be enjoying my V6 for the next several yearsā¼ļø
